I don't have a ton of experience in second draw / second cast decks, but I do know that you'll probably get more value out of threats that come down early and start accruing permanent advantage. Bloodhaze Wolverine fails the latter check, and Steelgaze Griffin fails both. I'd look at cards that get counters (Knowledge Seeker, Faerie Vandal, or even Kraum, Violent Cacophony with built-in card draw) and/or I'd look at making tokens (Mischievous Mystic, Emrakul's Messenger, Homunculus Horde, or Thopter Fabricator) In your colors, I might consider Irencrag Pyromancer for the removal too. The next step is to make sure you have a reliable source for drawing every turn. Looting with Evie Frye and Merchant of the Vale is fine but comes with a heavy upfront cost. I'd prefer to consolidate the deck around cheap fliers or other even more evasive creatures to play into cheaper Coastal Piracy effects like Curiosity and Curious Obsession. Faerie Mastermind is another great include if you don't mind a little bit of symmetry. With or without Improbable Alliance itself, there are a lot of powerful faerie-themed cards available to the strategy. It could be worth going into black or full pivoting to dimir for other tribal staples like Bitterblossom, Bitterbloom Bearer, Spellstutter Sprite, Vendilion Clique, Obyra, Dreaming Duelist, Scion of Oona, etc. This also makes cards like Banner of Kinship way better. If you prefer to stay in red though, and given the types of Tormenting Voice and cantrip effects you're running, you may get better mileage out of just committing to a spellslinger strategy that temporarily pumps a few big hitters. Monastery Swiftspear, Kiln Fiend, and Nivix Cyclops come to mind from older decks I've seen. Toss in some Assault Strobes and the like and lethal shows up fast. White also has some interesting magecraft creatures from Strixhaven that could fit the strategy. In summary, I'd either focus on swapping out some of your instants/sorceries for more consistent draw sources and payoffs (probably involving faeries) or I'd do the opposite by switching up your creature lineup to better payoff the spells you currently have.

jonjonhholt Kiln Fiend would be super badass, I honestly was just loving the ward on Dwarven Forge-Chanter I still need to playtest this though. Thanks for the comment and the tips as always!

while i like Dwarven Forge-Chanter's resilience, with cards in the deck like Felonious Rage and Supernatural Stamina which want the targeted creature to die, Kiln Fiend might pack more of a punch in the dwarves place. However without a way to really give Kiln Fiend trample, Dwarven Forge-Chanter's ability to get in for multiple hits may prove to be more valuable. Regardless super fun deck as always!

I love this project, my nephew is about old enough to learn how to play so I'm putting these decks together to teach him.

The combat puzzles are great too. Some of the red creatures don't match up after the latest update, but most of the puzzles still work the same way with Festival Crasher instead of Kiln Fiend and Chandra's Spitfire instead of Impetuous Sunchaser. There are just a few where the trample from Archweaver doesn't math properly with the extra toughness on Festival Crasher, I think #22 and #23 are the only ones that would need tweaking to have a solution.

Update complete. Chandra's Spitfire to replace Impetuous Sunchaser. This and Twinferno has given red some good reach and it remains a strong deck without the Kiln Fiend +3 combos.

I also added Skyship Stalker to the maybelist. I good basic red dragon with stereotypical red abilities. It could replace Jeska, Warrior Adept to cut down the cost, but she is sort of a figurehead for the deck and I am reluctant to remove her.

Thanks again for making these- a brilliant resource.

A previous commenter mentioned the explosiveness of the deck might be too high with the turn 3 synergy of Kiln Fiend into Rush of Adrenaline + Assault Strobe + any other instant/sorcery = 24 damage.

I can see the idea that this is the point of the deck, but also that losing to this feels like it was barely a game and wasn’t fun/interactive.

Suggestions on how the deck might just slightly slow down whilst retaining explosiveness with some substitutions from newer sets:

  1. Festival Crasher stands in for Kiln Fiend, has a more modest +2/+0 per instant/sorcery. The turn 3 combo becomes 18 damage instead of 24.

  2. Twinferno stands in for Assault Strobe. Costing 1 more to cast, the turn 3 combo becomes 18 damage instead of 24. Personally I find Twinferno to have more thematic art and flavour for a red deck, and the modal casting adds some more gameplay depth too. A further alternative is Two-Headed Hunter as an adventure instant, but ungainly complexity.

I'd like to suggest Kiln Fiend, I think it synergieses well with Godzilla if I understand the card rules correctly.

Although I haven't played much pauper, a quick search led me to some card for you to consider. Ancestral Anger might be worth running over Crash Through, Mutagenic Growth always pairs well with Kiln Fiend, and Renegade Tactics might be worth considering for the sideboard.
