Zektar Populate

The whole thought of this deck is to populate the tokens made from zektar shrine expedition.

The more I looked into the deck the more I realized that it would need to go with a control style. With populate and zektar being the focus I looked into other possible token generators that made big tokens I could populate, but there aren't actually many cards out there that can. The best I could find was slime molding, but it asks for way too much mana just to be hit with a kill spell. If a zektar token were already in play then miming slime would be incredible, but that means that every other point in the game it would be a dead card. I almost put in dragon egg and/or rukh egg into this list, but was concerned on their viability at their cmc and the amount of dependence you need for your opponent to attack with a non-flying creature. However I did feel that brindle shoat sits at a nice middle ground where you can actually deal a little bit of damage to your opponent while also being able to play it on turn two.

The biggest problems that this deck encounters is not being on track, often by not having zektar on board, enough lands to activate it, or a way to populate the token. For these reasons the deck runs brainstorm and preordain to help search for what we need. Brainstorm is also useful as it can help get rid of some less useful cards in our hand when paired with an evolving wilds and terramorphic expanse.

Due to having 4 different colors present in the decks, arcum's astrolabe can filter to the colors we need and help us filter through more of our deck with the draw on etb. Considering the deck is now on the snow plan and we already have red, might as well throw in some skred.

The deck is most vulnerable when we expect things to go our way, so we have some counterspell and dispel to keep our big tokens safe.

From the current pauper decks that I know of, I believe that the biggest hurdles for this deck would be metalcraft(hard to handle 4/4s early game), boggles(can't interact beyond some counterspell), heroic(too big of creatures with flying), and delver(hard to deal with flyers). Due to these decks giving us trouble, I've tried to combat this with a playset of sundering growth in the sideboard, aclong with moment's peace in case we need to buy even more time. If decks with enchantments and flyers give us even more trouble, I've thought of adding crushing canopy to my sideboard. If we can't handle graveyard decks, then maybe we need some return to nature.

There are other ways to use zektar(such as just win by swinging with a big token when the opponent is low), but I thought it would be fun to see if a 7/1 token that stays around would be powerful enough. This is still mostly a first draft, so I'm sure there is something I've missed.

ALSO: My apologies for the rant
