This deck started off as U/R Burning Vengeance - Unstable Reaction for casual/modern, but after playtesting it a bunch and researching I decided that the Burning Vengeance mechanic, though a fun idea, just doesn't hold up. So I scrapped it and started over!

The crux of this deck is to be casting a variety of low-cost spells to control combat (Slip Through Space, Artful Dodge), stall enemy creatures (Vapor Snag, Skyline Cascade ), and for frequent-but-small spells to set up Guttersnipe, Stormchaser Mage, and Nivix Cyclops to deal big damage. Young Pyromancer can easily generate tokens for chump blocks or to go wide if I'm feeling aggressive. There's also some card draw via Slip Through Space. When I can't utilize straight-up card draw, Titan's Strength and Temple of Epiphany help topdeck things I need (or more importantly, flush things I don't at that moment). In a pinch, Vapor Snag could be used to bounce a creature back to my hand as a way to protect it from an opponent's burn or removal spell.

A sideboard is in the works. Right now I see this deck having a hard time against non-creature or aggro/token decks.

Also, while I realize this deck isn't strictly built around Prowess as a named mechanic (Stormchaser Mage aside), all of the creatures in this deck Do Things when non-creature spells are cast, so I figure the name works. :)

Kiln Fiend - I would've included him earlier but he was too expensive. With his Conspiracy 2 reprint, it's well within my budget. Stormchaser Mage isn't a bad card at all, but this guy just slots in better.

Mutagenic Growth / Apostle's Blessing - Phyrexian-mana spell options to allow for quick cast triggers on Nivix Cyclops or Kiln Fiend.

Temur Battle Rage - Given that both Kiln Fiend and Nivix Cyclops will fulfill the Ferocious requirement independently, this seemed to be a better option than the (already good) Titan's Strength.

Serum Visions - A couple of these will help prevent stalls by helping optimize card draws.

Mizzium Skin - I debated whether to use this or Dispel, but opted for this as it's much more efficient protection from targeted removal (especially with the Overload option). Mana Leak can still get non-removal Instants if that's what I need.
