Out of all the decks I've tried building and played, this has to be the one that's taken up most of my time. It's gone through half a dozen remakes, several edits, suggestions and has something like a 1:4 win/loss ratio at the local FNM. Of course; improving that would be great
The deck has a pretty simple objective: Play Master of Cruelties as soon as possible and mess with your opponent's life total harder than Liliana messed with the rest of The Gatewatch. Top that off with a finisher burn spell or other form of life loss and you can hopefully net a win.
Base Combo: Generator Servant + Master of Cruelties
- usually kicks off on your third turn if starting with an ideal hand
Second Combo: Alesha, Who Smiles at Death + Master of Cruelties
- turns the deck into one focused more on graveyard and reanimation to set off MoC's ability, typically used in longer matches where the first combo doesn't hit as quickly as one might want it to
Combo Utility:
Faithless Looting,
Sign in Blood
- Both great for card draw and hand building, especially useful at building graveyard for the alternative combo
Grapple with the Past
- This piece of work gets its own mention, working much like the Thought Scour in Grixis Delver builds, but with the added bonus of digging cards back from the grave. Combo pieces, discarded lands, maybe even recycle a fetch. Instant speed too, great to cast on the end of an opponent's turn to prepare a combo on your own turn. Also the big reason this deck currently splashes green
Top all that off with a few staple pieces of removal for Modern and that's the deck's inner workings in a nutshell! Thoughts are appreciated and maybe this build can see more than a 25% winrate for once
