I got a friend of mine hooked on magic a few months back, and his 19th birthday is coming up this Saturday. I took him to FNM like a month ago. He was the least experienced person there, and he had a budget grixis control deck that I through together for him from cards that he pulled from HoD prerelease. He ended up going 3/1, getting second place over all. He even won a match against a guys who's been to two PT's. Needless to say, it was pretty impressive.

Since he did so well, and I do feel responsible for getting him addicted to this game, I want to buy him a decent control deck for his birthday. It's still going to be fairly cheap, I'm skimping a bit on the mana base, but the power is still there, and it's better than what he currently has.

If you'd like to leave feedback on cards that I should consider, that would be amazing. Also, if you could leave a link to any standard grixis control builds that you know about, yours or otherwise, that would be great. I'll be sure to upvote them.
