this is my latest deck i have been refining in the MTGO queues. solid game against many tier 1 and 1.5 decks but suffers on others. we never have a huge win percentage but we almost always have game against most decks
the deck uses a heavy exile and trading cards for value themes to help close games.
this is not a D&T veriant. this deck focuses on getting down a threat and stalling our opponent out of the game.
Nightsky Mimic
acts as our flying goyf, and if it has a
Edge of the Divinity
attached it becomes a 2 turn clock against most modern decks with a fetch land base.
Basilica Bell-Haunt
is fantastic tempo card and gains so much value on etb. having it attached to a bolt proof body is just gravy, you stick one of these your ahead, you stick two you win 9/10
Kaya's Guile
is so offen a sb card it's now mb. and in this deck it has added synergy with triggering nightsky instant speed and the token is becomes a 4/4 with an edge. it also provides a much needed exiler from kaya (our alt wincon) and
Wasteland Strangler
.
Kaya, Orzhov Usurper
our alt wincon and source of vial and aggro hate. this card is so incidentally good against so many modern strategies, is insane. from taking away snap targets, and gurmag fodder, to exiling vials, deathshadows, explosives and treasure maps, and all this attached to a pretty quick alt wincon makes for a very solid card
Doom Foretold
i originally added as a joke but it turned out so well its now 1 mb. this takes out so many problematic permanents that are difficult to answer, from ulamog's and karns to bogles, vials and drogskol captains. we tend to keep boards pretty clear so it's only the nasty stuff left and this just goes through them without a care. and often its a startup, make a 2/2, drain and gain life, and opponent discards curve topper and you cantrip. its alot for a little.
Edge of the Divinity
an aura!... in modern!!... not in bogles !!!!! i hear you say. Yes! it's a permanent giant growth, that doesn't require fixing and triggers nightsky. stick this on anyone of the decks creatures to make a very big game ending threat for very little investment
Dire Tactics
is a solid unconditional removal spell (if a bit painful) but having a built in exile means it enables wasteland on curve.
Tombstalker
is a newer addition to the deck, after realising that i didn't have a way to gain value from the gy, adding a couple of game ending threats that are both cheap and difficult to remove seems like it was worth a slot
