The Name

Well this is a deck that uses a lot of creatures effectively as... rocks. Not only that, but with 4 colors, it's pretty colorful. And what's more, this deck is a little rough, but it's really sweet and holds a special place in my heart. To Kai Budde, you helped our game grow in a new and beautiful direction. Thank you.

The Conept

So basically my friend challenged me to make a honden deck; an idea that he really wants to see work (and his older brither is convinced will never work). This means that I'm making a budget honden list, using 3-4 hondens rather than the ideal, all 5.

Stages of Development

I have a big ol' thank-you to give to Trotticus. He basically gave me what I needed to see this deck become a reality. He gave me the Paradox Haze idea. My first draft, however, was Honden Tron! It used Mirror Gallery, it ran all 5 colors with City of Brass and Mana Confluence. It was pretty bad, but I loved the name HonTron. My second draft shifted more toward ramp, mostly utilizing Arbor Elf/Utopia Sprawl. That was totally not budget and I had to get a lot of duals to run 5 colors so I decided to shift it down to 4. In the end, I deemed (with some help) that in a non-competitive meta, Honden of Cleansing Fire was the weakest of the 5. And that's where I am now!

The Budget

So here's where the maybeboard comes in. Ideally I would not be running a bunch of vivid lands. However, due to budgeting I decided that would be the best option. Ideally, you would run a bunch of shocks and maybe a few checks, as well as different dorks.
