Going to playtest Terminus, it looks fun with Brainstorm :)

Thinking about adding the countertop combo (Counterbalance +card:Sensei's Divining Top), any comments or suggestions on what to remove?

my first sugestion would b to add a lot more land id take out the Lotus Petal s and most of your planeswalkers since im not sure y Venser, the Sojourner is in here if u r looking for help against agro id sugest Engineered Explosives and Swords to Plowshares other then that id definitely recommend a Jace, the Mind Sculptor i kno hes expensive but hed do this deck a world of good

I'm sorry, your suggestions don't make a lot of sense, are you familiar with how legacy games play out? The Lotus Petal s need to be in there to put out spells early, turn 1 whenever possible. Venser, the Sojourner is in the deck to blink card:Jester's Scepter or City of Traitors /Ancient Tomb to keep mana free to counter. Engineered Explosives and Swords to Plowshares are both nice cards, but they just don't seem like enough by themselves. Jace, the Mind Sculptor is not in here because he does not need to be, not because he is too expensive. I am going to be adding card:Orim's Chant to help with aggro. Thank you for commenting and I hope people continue to give feedback.

to answer your question yes im prety familiar with legacy Lotus Petal is good but 16 lands is not nearly enough for a deck that hard casts 5 mana spells and i hadnt noticed the interaction between card:Jester's Scepter and Venser, the Sojourner good stuf

Thank you, but I still argue that 16 works fine with the petals and the Mox Opal . Have you tried playtesting the deck? I think you'll like it, it typically hard casts those 5 mana spells by the 2nd turn, which is why I think 16 lands is enough. Note also that City of Traitors and Ancient Tomb both tap for 2 mana, which is another reason I only run 16 lands, since I have 4 of both of them.

I will be updating the deck once New Phyrexia is released. So far, the spoilers that have interested me are: [Karn, the Released] for his colorless cost and instant permanent removal. [Psychological Surgery] and [Surgical Extraction] for the win-con removal. [Dispatch] and [Norn's Annex] for the sheer over-poweredness. You can find these at mtgsalvation.com. Let me know what you think, maybe some suggestions on what to remove to make room for these?

April 18, 2011 11:33 p.m.

KorApprentice says... #7

Well, that's embarrassing. After I sat down and actually thought about it, [Dispatch] is just a glorified Swords to Plowshares . And then I felt really stupid when I realized that keithroule suggested using swords because it can be imprinted on Isochron Scepter , which hadn't occured to me for this deck even though I've run the combo in other decks before. Good call on the Swords to Plowshares kieth, I'm sorry that I was too busy herping and derping to notice that. Still not removing Lotus Petal and still not adding Jace, the Mind Sculptor , but I will be adding swords to the sideboard and I may playtest the Engineered Explosives , but not sure about adding it yet. Still looking for comments and suggestions, rate up if you like!

Not sure What the goal is here. Quick play artifacts but I don't see how you damage. need a biggie or a nice swinger. something. I got personal issues with not having many creatures so it is reflected in my comments. Aggro/burn/biggies.

Sorry Jokernaught, this is no aggro deck. Are you experienced with legacy control? For a quick win, I have Tezzeret the Seeker , but the goal is not a quick win, so no fatties. The goal is complete board lockdown, did you read the description? True, the deck does not do too well against hard aggro, but adding aggro would not solve that problem. If you are unsure of the goal of a deck, be sure to read the description and comments.

I got lost in the description. lol so I skipped it. I do apologize. Now that I understand it I realize that it does it's job very well. And you have inspired me to build a modern lockdown. And I forgot about Tezzeret the Seeker 's -5 ability.

On a side note: with Isochron Scepter try using Dispense Justice . You can save Venser's exile ability for the other things things.

never mind. Its your own permanent. I read it wrong.

And the scepter only imprints instants that cost 2 or less :)

By the way, Chalice of the Void is excellent in Modern lockdown!

Have you tried Meekstone for playing against aggro decks? Also, have you tried Brainstorm in your list? I think it would add a considerable amount of consistency.

I have not edited this deck in quite some time and I'm not sure how I forgot Brainstorm . Probably something to do with room. I'll try to squeeze that in there, and I will put Meekstone on my sideboard. I don't need it main board since Ratchet Bomb actually solves most of my aggro problems. Thanks for commenting!

How do you do against Dredge? As far as I can tell, you'd seem to rely on SceptreChant. Have you considered siding in some hate e.g. Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage?

February 17, 2012 4:29 p.m.

KorApprentice says... #17

Actually, I haven't really considered any of the new cards. Currently reanimator and dredge are pretty hard match-ups for this and I have to rely on speed to get something under a scepter before they start dredging/reanimating. Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage will make an excellent sideboard card and it is perfect for this deck since I have ways to search it up. Thank you much for the suggestion Bingbing!

I like the deck. I would consider Spell SnareMTG Card: Spell Snare over CounterspellMTG Card: Counterspell personally, but it's a meta thing.

Not sure how I feel about Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb (explanation would be cool), but I'd consider Swords to PlowsharesMTG Card: Swords to Plowshares in it's spot.

+1 for Orim's ChantMTG Card: Orim's Chant imprinted on Isochron ScepterMTG Card: Isochron Scepter. Makes you wanna pull your own teeth out.

March 8, 2012 4:10 p.m.

KorApprentice says... #20

Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb takes care of not only tokens, but also relevant non-creature threats, so I believe it works best mainboard with Swords to PlowsharesMTG Card: Swords to Plowshares in the sideboard. And CounterspellMTG Card: Counterspell is used mainly as Force of WillMTG Card: Force of Will fodder, but it also stops much more than Spell SnareMTG Card: Spell Snare in the late game, which is what control and lockdown is all about. Thanks again for the comments! And yes, Orim's ChantMTG Card: Orim's Chant certainly does make people want to pull their own teeth.

Norn's AnnexMTG Card: Norn's Annex against non-white decks? Punish them for attacking your stuff.

March 9, 2012 2:45 a.m.

Jokernaught says... #22

SilenceMTG Card: Silence is indeed golden as well.

March 9, 2012 2:48 a.m.

KorApprentice says... #23

You will see that Orim's ChantMTG Card: Orim's Chant is already in the deck, which fills the role of both of those cards. There simply isn't room to run both SilenceMTG Card: Silence and Chant. Norn's AnnexMTG Card: Norn's Annex would not be very useful as my opponents would choose to pay the life with no consequence as I have no other way of damaging them save Tezzeret, who will end the game if he uses his ultimate. The win for this deck is exiling your opponents library, not dropping their life, so the annex would be an annoyance at best, while cards like MeekstoneMTG Card: Meekstone and Swords to PlowsharesMTG Card: Swords to Plowshares take care of threats much more permanently and can be sideboarded in. Thank you for commenting though, always appreciated!

For some reason, on this particular deck, I can not comment correctly at all. Lol

Do you often have problems with destruction? I kinda like to run Open the VaultsMTG Card: Open the Vaults when things are getting tight for artifacts.

March 9, 2012 4:49 a.m.

KorApprentice says... #25

Open the VaultsMTG Card: Open the Vaults is really expensive to cast, but I have thought about the problem of running into artifact destruction. I am thinking about adding some Treasure HunterMTG Card: Treasure Hunters to the sideboard since they can be blinked by Venser, the SojournerMTG Card: Venser, the Sojourner.
