I'm going for something a little different, and I really like the potential interaction between Cipher and Heroic. Besides 2x Thassa, God of the Sea(both of which I luckily pulled from packs) and the 4x Temple of Mystery, this is a very budget-minded deck.
My goal with this deck is getting out a Heroic creature that gains +1/+1 counters from being targeted and then making it unblockable, so it can eventually swing for lethal damage.
My Heroic creatures are the backbone of the deck:
Hero of Leina Tower
/
Setessan Oathsworn
/
Artisan of Forms
I then have several ways to make them unblockable: Aqueous Form/ Thassa, God of the Sea/ Rogue's Passage
I'm also testing
Flitterstep Eidolon
as a cheap unblockable platform.
Boon Satyr
was added to give me a little more early power with the added ability to trigger Heroic should I draw him a little later in the game.
Ideally I want to encode Hidden Stringson my unblockable creatures, so once I deal combat damage I can cast it again to trigger Heroic.
Ordeal of Thassaprovides a very nice draw engine along with a Heroic trigger.
I've also added a play-set of Alpha Authorityto protect my creatures and trigger Heroic while doing so.
Mutant's Preygives me some removal. I like this over blue counter/bounce spells because it triggers Heroic and ideally I'll have at least one pumped up creature that can hit big when it fights. Hexproof creatures can cause a problem for this method of removal.
Triton Tactics
is a great Heroic enabler in that it targets two creatures and it's nice to have the potential for a surprise block.
Voyaging Satyr and Kiora's Followerare there for a little bit of acceleration that can help mana fix for my double-mana-cost cards. I'm thinking about picking up a couple Sylvan Caryatidin their place. I've also been thinking about
Karametra's Favor
in this spot, as it would trigger Heroic and a cantrip is always nice.
My sideboard needs some work, to be sure. I've thrown in a few cards to deal with specific problems or matchups but it's nothing comprehensive.
Any general feedback/tips/suggestions would be very much appreciated.
