Nice man! I like it. Sub +1 counter theme?

Oh and also, am i missing something for the infinite mana combo of Retreat to coralhelm and storm cauldron??

JustinWunderlich, yes, it also has a +1/+1 counter theme to get Omnath beefed up. I’m also running some trample effects so that the commander damage gets through. So, how the infinite mana works with Retreat to Coralhelm + Storm Cauldron is you need either Llanowar Scout , Sakura-Tribe Scout or Walking Atlas . Tap a land for mana, it’ll bounce to your hand because of Storm Cauldron . Tap a Land dork, ie Llanowar Scout to put that same land into play, which triggers landfall from Retreat to Coralhelm which you choose to untap Llanowar Scout and just keep repeating those steps for infinite mana. This can also be done similarly with Cloudstone Curio instead of Storm Cauldron .

OHHHHHH WOW...I must have misunderstood that part. I thought you meant mana dorks like Birds of Paradise and stuff haha I see, I see.

You secured my upvote with that deck name and the alt-art alone.

Why did you add 'hateful' to the original name?

ScionsStillLive, so this brew isn’t exactly the original that I created. I built three different versions of Omnath, Locus of the Roil to show the different ways I plan on using him. The “original” brew is based off of a tribal theme. “Hateful” has a land hate package. Then there is “hungry” which is my competitive brew that features Food Chain shenanigans.

Long story short, my playgroup gets very ruthless and will build around shutting decks down completely, so I regularly change my commander builds to different brews to prevent my playgroup from being able to study and build around shutting them down. I like to keep my opponents always guessing what kind of fun surprise I’m about to unravel. So that’s the reason why I post multiple builds of the same commander. Lucky for me, none of the people I play with, use TappedOut or all of my fun would be spoiled.

Starsky2814 maybe you can make a deck that can do several different things at once so you can adapt to the situation.

ScionsStillLive, each brew still has versatility and can adjust in case things go south in one direction. I personally like having the different versions to swap to, so that one brew doesn’t get overplayed and then boring. I never feel like it’s a choir to change and spice things up. Plus, I find it to be very strategic this way against my buddies. They’re never prepared for when swap things around.

Sweet deck. I haven't uploaded my list but I run a similar list without the counter subtheme. What do you think of Teferi's Time Twist as another blink/protection spell? Since you don't run any countermagic or anything like Heroic Intervention or ways to tutor your hate cards how do you deal with people just flat-out wrecking your boardstate?

imSandstorm, thanks for the suggestion! Teferi's Time Twist , could be a potential add for protection, as I’m still tinkering with the build.

I was piloting the deck, yesterday and it was blowing up, quickly! One game, I had the entire pod scoop on turn 3 because I was able to have Omnath, Locus of the Roil in play on turn 2 and by turn 3, I had 9-10 lands in play with a counter heavy Omnath and a Winged Temple of Orazca , ready to go. With that being said, I did become a huge target every game. With spot removal being a huge issue.

So to answer your question, on how I deal with protecting my boardstate, well, I just let it happen and lick my wounds and play the long game. Which the deck does have plenty enough other ways of winning, if plan A is prevented. I just rely on stupid luck and not so much on tutors.

But from what I learned in those games, I did decide that I would be adding, Heroic Intervention and also, potentially adding cards, such as: Kira, Great Glass-Spinner and Spellskite , to add a little more protection to the mix, from all the spot removal threats.

On second thought, maybe not Kira, Great Glass-Spinner . I don’t want to counter the initial targeting for my counters and leave Omnath susceptible to removal afterwards.

Thanks for the reply, man. That pop off sounds insane!! Hadana's Climb  Flip is pretty bonkers. I think this deck has all the tutors it needs tbh. In place of the +1/+1 counter cards is where I've included Heroic Intervention and countermagic. I also run Temur Ascendancy over Rhythm of the Wild currently though so I can just kill someone off a scapeshift/splendid reclamation with Field of the Dead + Vesuva + Thespian's Stage or Zendikar's Roil . If I find myself in a countermagic heavy meta again though, I'm definitely putting Rhythm back in.

Could Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and Prismatic Omen be a good finisher/colorfixing for cheaper alternatives?

August 1, 2019 12:12 p.m.

Starsky2814 says... #21

Exsus, yes, those could be options. Especially with the amount of land bouncing in here and our friend Scapeshift , would make that potentially gross. I’ll keep it in mind.

Starsky2814 What happens if your playgroup creates a deck that can withstand all three decks?

August 20, 2019 10:34 a.m.

Starsky2814 says... #23

ScionsStillLive, I don’t think I’ve encountered anything like that, but if that were the case, I would make necessary adjustments to the decks that adapt to the meta shift. If someone were to make something that makes it completely unplayable then I guess I’d retire the commander. Like I said, I haven’t had that happen yet.

ok lol

Great deck name and I love the flavor (pun intended). Great art alter too! Did you alter the art for the actual deck?
