This is a Grixis combo deck that goes super deep and utilizes some very unique cards.
Ultimately, the game plan is to use
Imminent Doom
as a source of removal and damage. At first look, the card seems very unplayable but I tested it in a Mono-Red burn deck and it was unbelievably fast when you hit the right cards in proper sequence.
Cards I'm using that paired really well with
Imminent Doom
are
Soul-Scar Mage
who converts the
Imminent Doom
damage into -1 -1 counters towards creatures, and Firebrand Archer who I overlooked at first because of it's toughness. What I realized, however, is that Firebrand Archer is arguably the best Pinger in recent magic history. Why? Because despite only being a 2/1 for 2, it relies on noncreature "casting triggers." This means that it doesn't care about summoning sickness. Also, being a 2 cmc creature means that it is a solid Target for
Claim
which also helps with the 1-drop trigger for
Imminent Doom
, which is the most important doom trigger to hit. You can then Fame your archer to trigger
Imminent Doom
for the 2cmc cost also triggering the firebrand archer you recently targeted with
Claim
.
Additionally, to give extra triggers to
Imminent Doom
,
Soul-Scar Mage
, and Firebrand Archer we have Tormenting Voice for card draw, Cut and ribons for removal, loss of life, and extra
Imminent Doom
triggers, and Torment of Hailfire to hit the higher CMC
Imminent Doom
triggers and reduce our opponents resources.
For the 4cmc slot I'm running 2 copies of
Wildfire Eternal
. This card is tricky, but very helpful in our deck. He lets us either deal 1 damage and cast an instant or sorcery spell, or he becomes blocked and makes our opponent lose 4 life. To go with
Wildfire Eternal
I'm mainboarding 3 copies of Dark Intimations. This deck can cast Dark Intimations on its own, but being aloud to cast the spell for free before the damage step to retrieve a creature or Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh from the graveyard to our hand, drawing a card, while also forcing our opponent to sacrifice a creature or planeswalker and discard a card, which likely means we make them sacrifice a creature that blocked one of our other creatures while also giving our
Soul-Scar Mage
, Firebrand Archer and
Imminent Doom
last minute triggers before the damage step. Additionally, since I'm running 2 copies of Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh then I can also exile Dark Intimations from the grave to give Bolas extra loyalty.
Lastly, the deck has 2 copies of Hour of Devastation for a sweeper and a solid 5 cmc slot for our
Imminent Doom
.
In the mana-base, a bunch of fetchable cycleable dual lands, and 2 different man-lands. The
Wandering Fumarole
which taps for 2 different colors of Mana, and Hostile Desert to exile cycled lands and get a 3/4, which can later be sacrificed to Ramunap Ruins
