Am I Getting Through to You???

So I will start off by saying, this is my first attempt at an aggro deck as well as my first time building a deck where red is the primary color... so go easy on me =P

I wanted to make a weird amalgamation of mardu and sultai tokens with this one, taking the best from the both of them (while still sticking to mardu colors). as a bit of a combo deck player, I wanted to break away from the strict aggro style and find a way to get some direct damage, and really didnt want to fit into the all too played out rabble red deck category. what you see above is what I have come up with.

the notable combos are as such

Ajani's Pridemate + Brutal Hordechief - this plays off of the interaction between BHC's life gaining mechanic and the way APM gets its counters. say I swing with 5 counters and have both on the field... BHC triggers 5 individual instances of life gaining, rather than 1 with a large lump sum, which in turn puts 5 +1/+1 counters on APM. I am really digging that this allows me to maintain early game presence, but can grow to be stupid powerful really quickly considering the way the deck works.

Sorin, Solemn Visitor + Ajani's Pridemate - this goes along the same lines as the previously mentioned combo, being that each individual instance of life link is considered gaining life, so once again, swing the horde, and watch the pridemate grow.

Butcher of the Horde + Mardu Ascendancy + Outpost Siege - while this is a smaller combo, I like that it is something that can happen every turn. the idea is that if I swing a mess of goblins and a BotH, I can take a look at what goblins get blocked (not that BotH is incapable of being blocked, just that my meta is painfully ignorant of flying), and sac those goblins for any number of BotH's abilities, in turn triggering OS as well as MA, dealing more damage and generating more tokens. I like it =)

Notable cards

Foul-Tongue Shriek - though I hope to not need life gaining too much with this deck (I hope it will be fast enough), it is always good to be able to suck up some life in those last few turns. whats better, is that with as many creatures as I hope to have on the board, this should be pretty devastating.

Outpost Siege - well, this one is pretty self explanatory, but I figured if I was capitalizing on my creatures hitting the battlefield, I should be capitalizing on them leaving as well... Im hoping this may serve as a deterrent for board wipes and other spells of the sort, hopefully making them an effective kill if they are cast (by the time they are able to be cast).

My perfect world t4 win

turn 1) play , play Monastery Swiftspear (MSS), swing 1

turn 2) play , play Ajani's Pridemate (APM), swing 1 with MSS

turn 3) Play , play Goblin Rabblemaster (GRM), swing 4 with MSS, APM, and 1 token

turn 4) Play , play Brutal Hordechief (BHC), swing with MSS, GRM, 2 tokens, and APM. BHC deals 5 damage, you gain 1 life 5 times. before combat damage resolves, APM gets +5/+5. resolving damage is 1(MSS) + 5 (GRM) + 2 (tokens) + 7 (APM) for a total of 20 in the turn alone, + 6 from previous turns.

Idealistic... I know... fun to think about... absolutely.

I will do a more formal write up on this in the near future when I get the deck a little more nailed down.

OK, So there has been a good amount of discussion regarding the nature of sideboards, and how quickly decks adapt to token decks... so, I have been toying around with the sideboard in a way that I hope gives the deck potential to deviate from itself wildly from one game to the next. as such, I have tweaked the sideboard to allow me to transform the deck from being almost entirely token oriented (more so having a wide board presense), to something more narrow but more powerful in nature.

My plans for what to side out to drastically change the deck are as follows...

2 X Brutal Hordechief --> 2 X Butcher of the Horde

3 X Foul-Tongue Shriek + 1 X Dragon Fodder --> 4 X Duress

2 X Secure the Wastes + 1 X Dragon Fodder --> 3 X Mardu Charm

2 X Ajani's Pridemate --> 2 X Seeker of the Way

Either

1 X Dragon Fodder + 2 X Hordeling Outburst --> 2 X Outpost Siege + 1 X Temur Battle Rage

or

1 X Dragon Fodder + 2 X Hordeling Outburst --> 1 X Outpost Siege + 2 X Temur Battle Rage

Keeping in mind that all of these need not happen in totality, but can if I see that my opponent is sideboarding like a mad man.
