If you do not want to read a weird, rambling story of how this deck came to be, please scroll down.

Mono green devotion. One of the first abilities I ever made a deck around. The first iteration had 2 Karametra's Acolytes, a bunch of random green cards and all the Terra Stomper s I could fit. It had no noncreature spells and was really quite bad. But I had a blast playing it. The deck morphed over time, as I got better at both playing the game and making decks, but I left it a while back as I searched for other fun decks to play. I eventually forgot about the deck, and only played once every couple of months. It looked like it would meet the same fate as the mono-white deck that only used flying creatures; however, a few really interesting, and powerful green creatures came to my attention and rekindled the green flame. And thus Mono Green Devotion has returned.

Feel free to take a look and laugh at my abysmal deck-building skills. :)

Weird, rambling story ends here

Please keep in mind that this deck was built on a budget, and with cards that I either had or could buy at the game store down the street.

Main Deck

The Ramp**

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx One of the staples of this deck. Lets me get serious amounts of mana and is harder to kill than creature-based ramp. I was only able to find 2 of them, but I will to get 2 more.

Karametra's Acolyte Nykthos in creature form. Can give huge amounts of with a Deus or Primalcrux out, or just gives you a small bit for no extra mana, unlike a certain shrine.

Elvish Mystic One mana. Generates green. Gives me some devotion It's not bird of paradise, but works just as well.

Voyaging Satyr Besides having one of my favorite flavor texts, it can untap your forests or Nykthos for even more ramp.

Whisperer of the Wilds Two-drop mana dork. Generates two mana if you have a creature with 4 or more power. Not a bad card.

The Bastards

Deus of Calamity 6/6 for 5 with trample. Gives you 5 devotion which lets you ramp up insanely fast with an acolyte. If it does 6 damage you also get to destroy a land. Not at all a bad card, but one of our smaller bastards.

Gaea's Revenge 8/5 for 7. It has haste, cannot be countered, and has pseudo-hexproof. It doesn't provide much devotion, but is pretty strong. Only downside is that it has no trample, so I gets chump blocked all the time.

Hydra Broodmaster 7/7 for 6. Does not have trample, which can lead to some problems. Starts out as a small bastard, but it can become a real big one, it can generate a hideous amount of tokens. With a lot of devotion, you can do some crazy stuff. Really funny card.

Genesis Hydra
X cost creature. Power level varies drastically. I have, in some occasions, gotten him up to a 19/19. He can also search your deck for another creature and put him on the battlefield, which lets you get some other big bastards or some ramp creatures. Unfortunately, no trample on this one.

Primalcrux / creature. This bastard is 6 green mana & has power and toughness equal to your devotion (which is guaranteed to be at least 6). He does have trample & can become gigantic. When he first hits the battlefield, it takes the opponent a minute to figure out what it does. Reactions can be hilarious.

Worldspine Wurm THE big bastard. It is tied for the highest power in all of modern (equal to Emrakul's). It has trample. If it dies, it goes back to your deck and generates 3 5/5 trample wurms. One of the cards that made me want to reconstruct this deck. I know its not the greatest card, but the satisfaction you get when he hits the battlefield feels so good. Love this card.

Other Creatures

Leatherback Baloth There is a slime for the same mana cost that is probably better, but this is what I could find (I could also only find one). Great for devotion and has really good stats for a creature you can drop turn 2.

Troll Ascetic My current replacement for leatherback baloth. Not at all a bad card. Hexproof and regenerate is pretty good. 3/2 for 3.

Kalonian Tusker 2 mana 3/3. Not bad devotion creature, looking for a better replacement.

Nessian Game Warden 5 mana 4/5. He lets you search for your big bastards. Not bad for attacking and blocking either. Thinking about replacing it with more Primal Commands (when I find them).

Deadshot Minotaur I know it looks weird in this green only deck, but hear me out. I wanted some non instant/sorcery card draw for Primal Surge and this can also double as a creature if Surge does hit. I want to replace it with Sigil of the Nayan Gods , but we will see.

Soul of the Harvest Again, some permanent card draw. It does say that you "may" draw a card, so you don't have to.

Other Spells

Primal Surge Do you know what's better than bringing out a big bastard? How about dropping every bastard in your entire deck as early as turn 4. If it goes unanswered, you have probably won the game (unless they wipe the board or some other evil thing).

Rancor Very powerful aura. Can make gaea's revenge, hydra broodmaster, or genesis hydra a much bigger threat. It goes back to your hand too.

Sideboard**

Primal Command I like this card. I didn't before, but I do now. It is pretty versatile. Currently looking for more. Currently replaced by Primal Surge.

Shamanic Revaltion 5 mana card draw. Can be kind of hit and miss. If you have several creatures, it can be great. Gaining life can be good too.

Harmonize 4 mana to draw three cards. 'Nuff said.

Windstorm X cost flying destruction. Pump mana into it and kill all things with wings.

Rampant Growth Searches for forests. Pretty good ramp. 'Nuff said. Currently replaced by Whisperer of the Wilds.

Cloudthresher Another anti-flying card. Gives good devotion though, and can damage opponents.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this deck. Any and all comments are welcome. I really appreciate it!

Updates Add

So, I found out Primal Surge is a card. I have changed the deck to try and exploit it to its fullest extent, which means pulling out all non-permanent cards and replacing them permanents with similar abilities.

This is going to be fun...
