You might want to take a look at corpsejack menace.

I personally recommend Wall of Limbs in here. I might just have a personal lice for that card, but it can cause some pretty amazing wins and is a strong defender. I think it would find a home in here quite well. Even without it in there this is a fantastic commander deck! Was thinking of making an Abzan commander deck around Doran, the Siege Tower . Might take some pointers from here.

This deck... WOW. After I was done reading it, I thought is would cost like $1500 or something like that. I don't know How you found the perfect combo of low-priced cards. This deck is just amazing, too.

Looks like board wipes and removal might be a pretty big problem for this deck. With the good amount of outlast you've added, I feel like Cauldron of Souls would be great defense for you.

You get a +1 just for the name. Oh, and I love the deck too.

Cathars' Crusade works very nice with the outlast buddies. Also works very well with ghave.

What about Llanowar Reborn?

U might want to add contagion engine, Vigor, Juniper order ranger, illusionist's bracers, Phantom nantuko instead of rakshasa deathdealer, Mycoloth instead of nyx-fleece ram, And rings of the brighthearth.

My favorite Outlast cards:

Abzan Battle Priest, Abzan Falconer, Mer-Ek Nightblade: all of these creatures can add an element of surprise by suddenly making all your dudes flying or all the other creatures with +1/+1 counters on them have lifelink. The deathtouch can often become a deterrent in a multiplayer game such that it may convince others to pick a less costly target than yourself.

Other cards from the set that fit the theme and are good synergy with +1/+1 counters: Retribution of the Ancients, Hardened Scales, Abzan Ascendancy, and Feat of Resistance.

There are tons and tons of +1/+1 counter effects across MTG. I have picked out some to try out in my deck. Among those, I like: Archangel of Thune, Corpsejack Menace, Fertilid, Forgotten Ancient, Mikaeus, the Lunarch, Spike Weaver, Cathars' Crusade, and Parallel Lives

Some of the "goodstuff cards" that I have found most strategic are: Vedalken Orrery, Attrition, and Aura Shards.

I had the exact same reaction as you some time back! I had been running this Mikaeus, the Lunarch deck and had been struggling with the way it was so easy for opponents to watch the army build up. I thought that this Outlast stuff could give that +1/+1 Mikkaeus deck some added utility, ramp for mass token generation, and a little bit more of an element of surprise.

In the end, it has proven to be a major improvement but is not yet competitive enough because by the nature of Outlast, since it is only activated as a Sorcery, it is harder to take full advantage of in a multi-player game, even with Ivorytusk Fortress under your control.

My own deck is still in progress. What I am finding right now is that "combat trick" cards that give every thing Trample or cards like Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord that can use big beefy creatures to get damage through are really important. My own Ghave deck is still largely in progress. Even with the improvements I made going from monoW to junk and outlast, it is a slow-build-up style EDH deck that will only "win" if your opponents either let you, get distracted by someone else, or also have similar types of board-building-in-the-wide-and-obvious-open-right-in-front-of-everyone-else's-face decks. I do think it has potential, I am not sure it it will ever be super fast.

The competitive version of Ghave is the comboy version. I know it is more effective, but I don't think it is as fun - it's not what I want from Ghave. I can get that enough from other generals.
