Four Steel Overseer, four Polluted Delta, and two Welding Jar have been added as the final pieces to this deck. I have been playtesting with this version for a while now. From what I have seen, this deck appears to be legitimately competitive at a local level. I'm very pleased with how well this fun budget build has turned out.

This deck is a little more top-heavy than the Tier 1 Affinity archetype, and it also skips that deck's infamous fast-mana artifact Mox Opal. This means that even though the deck is still capable of turn 3 wins, it generally runs on a slightly slower clock. Consequently, this deck has to play a stronger long game, and does so through card advantage (Thoughtcast), large late-game creatures backed by Ensoul Artifact and Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, and other tricks like postboard graveyard manipulation (Skeleton Shard and Resourceful Return). The sideboard allows for a formidable tempo conversion that allows for different tactics and grindy strategies if the opponent's build makes horde aggro tactics a losing strategy.

So far the deck has been performing very well and has been winning more matches than not in my local meta.

Beat Merfolk, Jund, and absolutely obliterated Hatebears. Lost to another Jund player in round 4, though, but the new version has exceeded my expectations. Turn 3 win first game of the night!

FNM 8/19/16 Show
