Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage, if it entered the battlefield that turn, put a +1/+1 counter on it, and exile the top card of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may play that cards.

If you have some other 2-CMC Knights such as Knight of Grace or Knight of Malice, I would play them over Cavalry Master because firstly you don't have that many Flanking creatures and it is a 4-CMC play which might be a little slow. Your best bet is to hit the ground running. For that matter, Akroma's Memorial is probably too slow too. I understand the deck is budget, but any removal/protection/buff spell might be better than the Memorial.

eatmygender those are very good suggestions and guess you are right with the Cavalry Master. Either going all flankers and have it or better not to have it.

Sram's Expertise is brutal... And if it comes in later and a Cathars' Crusade is in play this means 3-4 counters on every creature. I really need to do some testing.

I have also been considering Vanquisher's Banner, that will additionally trigger with Eerie Interlude.

Cavalry Master could be swapped out for Accorder Paladin considering it's difficult to know whether you'll actually have another Flanker at any one point. Fountain of Renewal isn't all too great, so my suggestion for mono-white is probably Thraben Inspector, because for one Mana a 1/2 and optional card draw is sweet. I feel like this could be actually a pretty good modern deck if you decided to build around ramping into Sram's Expertise and hit in with those weenie aggro bois.

Looks fun! Have you considered Paladin en-Vec, Cavalry Master, Kinsbaile Cavalier, or Hero of Bladehold?

Would a dupe effect like Splinter Twin or Flamerush Rider further add instances of Flanking from Cavalry Master ? Also, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar might work here too because spits out Knight Tokens. Great work as usual though! Love the creativity put into each concept.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will definitely go for Always Watching , and consider using Humble and Darksteel Mutation as well.

Thinking about removing defenders, I came up with including 4 Sidewinder Sliver + 2/3 (4?) Mirror Entity. With the help of some slivers, the latter may gain flanking (and then be affected by Cavalry Master too), but most of all its activated ability gives additional instances of flanking to knight creatures (plus, it's a useful mana sink since I don't have one yet). I think it could be pretty fun (at best, a creature can have 9 instances of flanking) and give the deck that certain something that now is missing.

Happy to see someone else going for the Flanking Knights theme! I've been occasionally playing my Yo Dawg, I Heard You Like Flanking... and it's so much fun! You can take or not ideas from it, but I strongly suggest Sidewinder Sliver + Hivestone for additional "Cavalry Master" effect! Nothing beats 5 stacks of flanking on a 2/2 creatures :D
