Thalia and a Pegasus walk into a bar...

Legacy

Sam_McGee1

Sideboard

My current build on the death and taxes archetype. Any and all suggestions welcome and appreciated, and now on to the deck itself.

The "Prison" package

4x Thalia- Debatably the best creature in the deck thalia is not only a thorn of amethyst, but one that win near all creature based combat in legacy (barring a rogue goyf or mongoose). Thalia is generally the ideal mainboard threat against the format's combo decks, and is still highly useful in making brainstorms and ponders not even worthwhile in the "fair" matchups.

4x Phyrexian revoker- This little horror looks like strictly a sideboard card and less than ideal, however when used properly it often shuts down integral portions of decks kill the best one mana planeswalker drs, and it is one of our better cards game one against things like oops all spells (balustrade spy), and mana dredge (lion's eye diamond)

2x Vryn Wingmare- Basically Thalias #5&6 granted 3 mana is a lot but for the extra 1 colorless mana it stacks with itself as well as thalia as it is non legendary which can change an opponent's mindset from "this will be difficult" to "I'm completely locked out of the game". In addition the only common flier in legacy currently is a delver of secrets meaning the pegasus often has unblockability which works quite well with our equipment package.

2x Judge's Familiar- Taking the usual mangara of corondor slot (a D&T staple) Judge's familiar helps give the deck more game against the unfair combo decks often forcing them to try and "go off" a turn later which provides the heroes more time to keep locking down the opponents manabase. Not to mention the number of times an opponent forgets what it does and runs something like force of will into a judge's familiar. In addition an aether vial on one + judge's familiar in hand can lead to a blowout in the face of combo.

The Equipment Package

4x Stoneforge Mystic- The backbone to many legacy decks this powerful two drop is a self explanatory workhorse and at close to its best in D&T.

1x Batterskull- Debatably the best equipment in legacy batterskull is a giant beater that most decks can't deal with efficiently this is the best equipment in the deck against all stoneblade variants as well as the mirror, miracles, and most combo decks.1x Umezawa's Jitte- The most "toolbox" equipment in the deck Jitte is generally the second target on the list of equipment to get the jitte can be a silver bullet or even sword in matchups like elves, delver variants, and the mirror, as well as goblins, and infect. In these matchups an active jitte is pretty much the best thing you can be doing.
