Changed up the sideboard & added Hand Disruption.. —Nov. 7, 2013

Nothing too fancy in the mainboard.. -2Negate, -1Plague Myr < +3Inquisition of Kozilek for some general 1-drop hand disruption..

On the other hand, I switched up my sideboard quite a bit; -1Defense Grid, -1Surgical Extraction, -1Duress, -1Grafdigger's Cage, -2Revoke Existence < +2Noxious Revival, +1Negate, +1Elixir of Immortality, +1Rest in Peace, +1Pithing Needle..

I figured that having a boarder toolset to pick from would help me (post-board) match up better against a wider range of archetypes..

I'm looking forward to testing out the changes this weekend..

Mana Leak and Remand over Negate .

Telepathy and Swiftfoot Boots seem bad. I would run hand disruption, such as Liliana of the Veil or Inquisition of Kozilek and protection such as Mizzium Skin . Funeral Charm /Piracy Charm is also pretty solid as it can be discard, unblockability or a pump spell or removal.

Mutagenic Growth only costs 2 life but can save your dudes from Pyroclasm or Lightning Bolt in a punch and allows for much more punch.

I would personally drop the smelt and the rest. All the lands it comes in off are tap land. If you need hate for affinity and stuff, try Echoing Truth , as that bounces it. You don't really need to deal with stuff permanently, as you want to kill them asap.

The land base can be improved for sure. If you run 4 Darkslick Shores , 4 Watery Grave and then 2 or so Underground River , and 10 basics, you should be fine.

@Akamatsu: I'll definitely consider Distortion Strike , and the only problem with Infiltrator's Magemark is that due to my low creature count, I tend to only one creature at a time, therefore defeating the purpose of even running it in the first place..

@LeaPlath What you're suggesting is to completely change the focus of my deck & purchase $50 cards; so uhhh---no.. Also, Swiftfoot Boots wins games, believe it.. And I don't like Remand simply because I'm not into giving an opponent a second chance, sure it would be an advantage against creatures (over Negate ), but creatures are usually the least of my worries.. Although you do have a point about Mutagenic Growth ..

Oh, and thanks welcome2egypt01! :D

I'm saying keep the pumping, but instead of running a bad card like Telepathy run a way to interact versus other decks. You want a way to stop them comboing off, or getting a huge amount of CA over you, cause CA means removal. Even running Inquisition of Kozilek would be good as it hits all the removal in the format.

Remand is good cause you only need to keep them off their big win spell and cantrip because you have a shorter clock than them. That way you can just keep CA, draw into more counter spells and value. The creature part isn't all that relevant but useful. Even going 4 mana leak would be better than Negate cause Modern at the moment is a very creature based format (See pod, Jund, GB rock, Kibler Naya, etc)

I also think you can improve the land base, by taking out the tap lands. Running fast lands, check lands and shock lands is the best for modern. If you really need that red splash, run 1-2 red/blue and black/red shocks.
