This was my first standard deck I owned but after the rotation it has gone through multiple changes and is now evolved (pun intended) into a modern deck with new gimmicks to play with. This is not the fastest deck, that is for sure, but the job is definitely done in t6-7 or so. Overwhelmingly big creatures and as much card draw as you want.

• Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle = move your own +1/+1 counters as much as you want.
• Add Hardened Scales to the mix and you get infinite counters
• Using ability above to Fathom Mage = Basically with one +1/+1 counter you can draw your whole deck if you want.
• Moving all those counters to Gyre Sage = lots of mana (and after tapping you can move those counters back to someone else)
• With Devoted Druid = Infinite green mana and -1/-1 counters to opponent's creatures

• Champion of Lambholt or Nylea, God of the Hunt = Basically for ending the game.
• Mistcutter Hydra = More purpose for the ridiculous amount of mana that can be produced with Gyre Sage
• Stubborn Denial = Easily the best counterspell for this deck.

The hardest problem at the moment is to find the right balance of cards so that there is enough cards that can produce counters, cards that can benefit and abuse those counters and most importantly cards that produce mana enough to do the previous things. All modern simic suggestions are welcomed.
