Leech Bonder

Creature — Merfolk Soldier

Leech Bonder enters the battlefield with two -1/-1 counters on it.

(Blue), Untap: Move a counter from target creature onto another target creature.

I'd like to make a commander deck centered around moving the indestructible counters from Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus onto other creatures or permanents by using things such as Leech Bonder.

However, Leech Bonder seems to be the only card in blue than I can find that allows me to do this.

Hey Leonantti,

I've been able to playtest this build for a couple months now, and there's already been a few changes, although I haven't added things like Gluntch, the Bestower mainly because I sort of skipped that set, but will add it in the future.

Overall, I do enjoy this version, but it does come with a few weaknesses, such as my lack of much interaction, i.e. Counterspells and Removal, which I find I tend to lack in all of the decks I build. As an example, yesterday I managed to draw over half my deck by turn 6 and get most of my wincons in hand, but couldn't cast any of them due to one of the players in that pod running Baral, Chief of Compliance.

In my opinion, this is a very good 'come second' deck, but you're right with Simic Ascendancy being a good pick, my only concern with it is it requires both Leech Bonder and Paradise Mantle to function properly. That being said, it is a good pick, and one that I will probably put in the deck when I find one, as even though you do need to wait till upkeep, that isn't a problem as you can just perma goad every other creature to stay safe till then, spend the 1 G U if needed for a +1/+1 counter, then just insta win in the upkeep then.

I came across your deck while building my Kros Bright: Ace Attorney deck and it looks really nice, gave me plenty of ideas for my deck. I got to test my previous decklist during the weekend and it was working ok though I did encounter some minor problems that made me do some more fine-tuning after I got back home. I am still in a process of trying to think how to win with the deck, there does not seem to be many other options that I could think of than the ones you have already listed in your "How to Win" section. Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle combo would allow to win with Simic Ascendancy but there is the problem that you need to wait till your upkeep for to win with it.

Have you been able to play with your deck, how do you feel about it?

griffstick, Wheel of Sun and Moon never lets the cards hit the graveyard, which stops Syr Konrad, the Grim from triggering.

Additionally, Resourceful Defense is awesome. We could already move counters on creatures around as much as we liked with Leech Bonder and something like Paradise Mantle, but one card to cover all permanent types is incredible.

Leech Bonder has worked out pretty good in my vehicles deck. You can move the negative counters off it and onto your opponents' creatures and move +1 counters off your opponents' creatures and onto yours! Great little crewer.

Oh and lets start looking for Nesting Grounds combos. Since Hex Parasite and plain old proliferate already exists for when you just want to remove or increase counters on a single permanent, let's first and foremost go for combos where you either move a counter from a permanent which doesn't want it to one that does, or from a permanent which can easily produce a counter to one where it's harder to get started (after which it's probably easier to just proliferate). Also note that Fate Transfer and Leech Bonder already got creature-to-creature moving covered.

Decree of Silence + Saprazzan Skerry cycle

Chance Encounter + Gemstone Caverns

Thing in the Ice  Flip/Dark Depths/Woolly Razorback + Iceberg

Sagas + Myth Realized/Scroll of the Masters/Mind Unbound

Cheap level-up cards + expensive level-up cards (meh)

Nice deck, I’ve just spent ages brewing up a deck based around counters so found some neat tricks.

Leech Bonder could be very useful, if you can’t get a count onto something you could use it to move something round at instant speed, just before your creature dies. Fate Transfer would also help you here.

You may also like Bribery instead of taking the best of what’s on offer, take the best thing in someone’s deck instead, really hit them where it hurts.

Really cool deck,

Hope this was useful :)

Leech Bonder + Utopia Vow Infinite moving of counters around the board, opponent has a ton of +1/+1 counters? Now you do. You have a bunch of -1/-1 counters? Now your opponent does and so on and so forth.
