Would creatures that can be cycled fit in here would fill your graveyard

They would if they have additional abilities that could benefit Necrotic Ooze but the deck currently is pretty fine tuned so I don't know what to replace at the moment.

I just made a Jarad deck that has a healthy dose of inspiration from this one, thank you, though different in what I try to do.

Played it this week for the first time and a couple guys (the know-it-alls) at my table wouldn't let me do the Jarad + Phyrexian Devourer combo play because they claimed it was static (and only worked with Necrotic Ooze on field and Devourer in graveyard). I explained how it worked but they'd have nothing of it.

I'll be showing this page to them next we play because you explain clearly what happens but is there a rule you know that I reference to shut them up and let me play my deck? Haha.

Thanks Pal00ka! Always glad to see other people playing Jarad! If your friends don't understand exactly why the combo works they should read the rulings at the bottom of this page also. I'll check out your Jarad deck when I get a chance, don't forget to +1 if you haven't already. :)

You have two Acidic Slime listed, just FYI.

Psst, you have two acidic slime. Rad deck though, reanimator is the quickest way to make your friends mad haha

Thanks guys! I swear there is only one in there. ;) This deck definitely makes friends angry, especially when they have never heard of the combo and then I pull it up on several forums and then not only did I just kill them but I also proved them wrong so now they are double pissed. LOL!

I feel like Evolutionary Leap would be useful here.

It serves as a sac outlet and can potentially help you get key combo pieces out faster (or in the graveyard faster). It's also a fairly inexpensive card.

That was the best explanation that I've read about how the Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord + Phyrexian Devourer works. Thanks for that!

Absolutely! Thanks for looking at the deck and the +1! Stay tuned, I'll be doing a Shadows Over Innistrad update within the next week or so.

Hey everyone! I need some suggestions from the last 2 sets. I don't know the last 2 sets very well and I'm sure there is some awesome budget cards that are flying below the radar. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Traverse the Ulvenwald was in your budget for a while, but has been slowly creeping up.

Behold the Beyond is a combo deck's wet dream of a tutor, and it's sitting at a dollar.

Corrupted Grafstone is a nice mana rock for graveyard decks that gives you a turn 3 Jarad.

Crawling Sensation and Vessel of Nascency can self mill.

Cryptolith Rite has been dropping, so it might end up in your price range if it's an effect you want.

Deathcap Cultivator is a mana dork that likes graveyards.

Drownyard Temple can ramp from your graveyard.

If Eldritch Evolution and Grim Flayer ever drop in price they'd probably be good here.

Splendid Reclamation is enormous ramp in graveyard decks, and the price could go either way.

In general though, I noticed you have very little in the way of self mill for a deck that's so graveyard based. Hermit Druid is only about $2 and is phenomenal, and even if that's too expensive there are some great, cheap self mill cards like Nyx Weaver, Satyr Wayfinder, Undercity Informer, and Splinterfright you could use. As well as some great cards that play well with them, like Dread Return and Morgue Theft.

Hope that helps.

@sonnet666: Thank you so much for the comment! I've finally found some time to update the decklist but I'm still making tweaks here and there. Anything in the maybeboard could make it into the main deck. I'm currently trying to figure out if I want to replace all the basic land cards in the deck so I can combo off with Hermit Druid or keep the basics...

You're welcome.

I don't think combo'ing out with Hermit Druid on a budget is the greatest idea. Budget non-basics tend to come in tapped, so replacing all the basics will probably slow you down a lot. If you just keep the basic count low (what you have now is fine), Hermit Druid acts as an excellent yard-filler that gets you to your combos faster and ensures you keep hitting your land drops. Maybe replace 2 basics for Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse since they'll lower your basic count and thin your deck of basics when you play them.

Great deck, love it.

I think I would replace Reaper of the Wilds with Harvester of Souls. Card draw is pretty useful in this deck and Harvester of Souls is too overpowered anyway.

I think RotW is also a good swap, but I'd suggest Grim Haruspex in it's place instead. Your token generation is pretty minimal, relying on your opponents' creatures dying is a little unnecessary in a sacrifice based deck, and, at three mana, it's much more effectively priced.

I use Reaper of the Wilds primarily to make my Necrotic Ooze hexproof, I don't want to lose that ability.

Gotta say I built this deck for my little brother so he could learn the game and so far he's in love with the deck. Right now I'm workin on upgrading the deck for him to make it the absolute best that it can be but I'm finding it hard to pick a good starting point any siggestions?
