Removing Pretty for Performance —Dec. 21, 2022

It's been a minute since I've updated this deck, huh? Well, I've removed a number of cards that simply weren't doing well. They might be fancy, but they don't work. Let's go over it.

Removed

Dockside Extortionist - I know, I know. It's a good card. If you're going fast. This deck goes for the long game, and Dockside just didn't perform well here.

Purphoros, God of the Forge - Another fancy card I removed. We go tall, not wide. If we're going wide, everyone is already dead.

Goblin Lore - I'm removing the random discard. It just hurts.

Reforge the Soul and Wheel of Misfortune - Wheels can help my opponent. I only need to discard specific cards anyway, not my whole hand.

Endless Atlas - I never ended up using it. It's good, but I guess it didn't fit my playstyle. I'm no Josh Lee Kwai.

Mind Stone - My least favorite mana rock.

Tibalt's Trickery - This card ended up being a dead card so often. Plus, it's a nonbo with Fires of Invention.

Worldgorger Dragon - It was in the deck to serve as boardwipe protection. It's a glass cannon, though, so I never used it.

Blast-Furnace Hellkite - This card seems interesting. The doublestrike is super nice, but here's the real kicker. I can sacrifice my artifact tokens from Feldon to cast it! AND THAT'S AT INSTANT SPEED. It's like having another Fiery Emancipation in the deck but it can be a combat trick.

Balor - Now here's a fun card! Too bad you can't target yourself with it (the draw and discard, btw), but you'll get a lot of bang for your buck.

Cityscape Leveler - I'm a fan of a second Meteor Golem that can double as a wincon.

Seasoned Pyromancer and Bitter Reunion - This is much better discard.

Wurmcoil Engine - This keeps coming in and out of the deck. I forgot how good it was. Lifegain, deathtouch, and it leaves tokens behind!

Battlemage's Bracers - This is a great card. Another haste enabler, too. I might have too many cards related to my commander's ability, so I may take out Lithoform Engine soon since it's the worst one. It always gets targeted.

Cursed Mirror - Now that's a mana rock! I love it.

Deflecting Swat - My commander gets targeted too much. This helps with that.
