Shane.Allen what do you think about Thousand-Year Elixir

Shane.Allen says... #3

I like that card, its very good for using an activated ability more then once and with piper would give it haste type power gotta like that :)

I would recommend ramping with your elves likeLlanowar Elves Elvish Mystic and playing a Craterhoof Behemoth to cheat in with Elvish Piper

As a Piper deck has potential, but played it 3 times back to back and each time got mana screwed by the islands. As it runs mainly Green, recommend adding one more breeding pool and maybe exchanging remaining islands for some fetchlands.

UNST3RBLICH thank you for your comment, would fast lands go better in this deck? Or just fetch lands?

October 2, 2016 10:51 p.m.

Generally I'd do less shocks and more fetches. 2 Temple Garden, 2 Breeding Pool, and like 6-8 fetches, all of which can fetch green. Wooded Foothills would be fine. Beyond that, the fast lands would be good in here. Razorverge Thicket and I don't know the UG one.

Potentially Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx could fit into the manabase as well.

You're not fully utilizing your sideboard.

I would suggest Stony Silence, Blind Obedience, Rest in Peace, Suppression Field and Wrath of God in addition to Ghostly Prison.

As for green, Back to Nature and Creeping Corrosion are both good.

APPLE01DOJ some of those cards hurt me badly. Any other suggestions?

Tier refers to how popular a deck is, not power level. Home brews don't really have a tier.

The 1 of probe isnt doing much here.

Like I dont think Sprawl/Arbor is that amazing as ramp. Compared to just playing Birds of Paradise and Llanowar/Noble Hierarch. You are just openning yourself to get screwed by a well timed GQ. Sprawl shines in a devotion combk build where you are making 2+ mana and untapping lands more reliably.

Summoners Pact does a good impression of Fabricste/Time of Need for this deck. You can tutor up a Piper or a win con and cause you need 4 mana to pay the upkeep cost you will generally be using it when it is safe?

Simic Charm, Swan Song and Spell Pierce arent that hot in this deck. Especially given you need to win via attacking giving them a 2/2 flyer is hard. Spell Pierce is a tempo/gottcha counter but doesnt hit the stuff you need it tk hit. You are aiming to play a piper or amulet turn 3 and the artifact removal is either going to be like Grudge, in which they let you counter and flash it back (same as dispel) or Claim type effects. Where they pay the 2. Simic Charm just isnt a good card. The modes dont add up to anything amazing. If you want more counterspells for winning the war they should be sideboard.

Creaturewise you are better off maxing out Emrakul. Biggest threat. Ends the game in a swing even if it is blocked. Protects itself. Then you can run a 1 of Iona and a 1 of Elesh Norn in the side board, as alternative cheat targets.

For a secondary colour white is not so hot here especially if you are relying on the sprawls to get there. Add some red mana and play Through the Breach in the sideboard. Great anti control card. Then you get access to Ancient Grudge, etc. Spellskite is also a great sideboard choice as it can eat removal aimed at Piper or Amulet.

Ill have a look properly at mana and stuff later to give you better numbers on stuff.

Elvish Harbinger?? I had no idea this card existed, but I found it while sorting cards at my shop and thought it seemed interesting. If anything, It'll just be a 3 mana tutor for either of your elves that the deck is based around...idk. Just an idea :)

So, I'm back. What changes of my suggestions are you wanting to make, if any?

October 20, 2016 11:04 a.m.

Retile1234 says... #16

I'm wanting to add Through the Breach and taking out cards that make it less consistent LeaPlath

Budget and how well do you understand mana?

October 20, 2016 3:45 p.m.

Retile1234 says... #18

About 150 budget wise and I know a little about mana LeaPlath

October 20, 2016 3:47 p.m.

MollyMab says... #19

OK, so Modern is quite a powerful format, and the mana bases are equally developed.

You are running cards like Utopia Sprawl and I am assuming Chromatic Lantern to cast TtB and Iona/Elesh Norn etc out the sideboard, right?

October 20, 2016 6:21 p.m.

Retile1234 says... #20

The utopia sprawl for turn 2 Quicksilver amulet LeaPlath but the chromatic lanterns yes they're sideboard

Retile1234 says... #21

LeaPlath I'm looking for more consistency. How often can I pull it off and how can I protect it

OK, so drop Sprawl. Drop Arbor elf. Drop chromatic lantern.

Sprawl and Lantern are not good sources of fixing, as they require you to draw them and cast them before you can access the fixing.

Now for ramp, you can go the mana dork route, or you can go the Pentad Prism type route. Playing mana dorks gives you blockers and stuff, but turns out non-artifact removal. Playing the artifact side of mana gives you more resilient mana that doesn't need to be set up in the same way, but makes artifact removal do double duty.

Ideally mana wise you want to be running 8 fetch lands, then 1 steam vents, 2 breeding pools, 2 stomping ground. Then a mix of basics. Or if you go a more heavy basic route, you could play Blood Moon out the sideboard.

Spellwise...well it depends. Are you wanting to be the control combo deck that is controlling the game, then just slamming a creature with Quicksilver as a finisher, or the combo deck who wants to try and go "turn 3, Amulet, turn 4 Emrakul"

October 21, 2016 4:21 a.m.

Retile1234 says... #24

LeaPlath more control wise because that seems more consistent. Also, with large changes like that to my mana base my budget is thin

faya says... #25

Allow me to pass you the link to my quicksilver deck Green Quicksilver Amulet by faya. It's mono green. I can't play Elvish Piper or Quicksilver Amulet on turn 2, but only on turn 3. But on turn 2 I'm supposed to play Lightning Greaves.

Perhaps we will find good ideas together.
