Ok, so if you haven't seen this card http://mythicspoiler.com/nyx/cards/godsend.html it's absolutely nuts. Completely unfair and amazing. It's hella scary. It's like looking down the barrel of a .50 cal sniper rifle. Seriously. It even screws hexproof! I'm just perplexed this card could make it through R&D....

Be afraid.

It's an incredible card, I could see it being played in several different formats, and W is looking very strong right now.

I think I am in love with it

You better believe that will see play in different formats. I'm in shock. Also, equipping that to Hundred-Handed One is just hilarious. GG Thanks for playing.

Looks like I'll be playing WRx Midrange.

I will also that this and the new Gods/ full set of them are going to make Revoke Existence see way more play

April 8, 2014 1:20 a.m.

OH, Revoke Existence DOES exile artifacts! then I'm guessing Godsend won't see as much play as I expect, or at least against white...

April 8, 2014 1:23 a.m.

Dorotheus says... #9

3 to play, 3 to equip, mono-white devotion makes this with easier with Nykthos, but this really isn't too scary when everyone is just killing each others' creatures all day.

I'd be more scared if you could exile the equip creature to deny mirrors, or other things.

Don't forget Ratchet Bomb .

DrFunk27 says... #12

There are obviously ways to deal with this but if you don't. Good game. Can't wait to pay this in edh.

April 8, 2014 1:30 a.m.

I can say that it won't be a bomb in Standard, Maybe see a little bit of play in modern and then fade into obscurity or just a really good card in Kor decks....

But what do I know hehe

The Doctor says... #14

This is an EDH staple already.

April 8, 2014 1:38 a.m.

I can see myself playing this with Boros Reckoner and Iroas, God of Victory .

April 8, 2014 1:41 a.m.

@TheDoctor

Absolutely. I just hate it when I kill my opponents' creatures but they just have a backup copy in hand.

xlaleclx says... #20

Won't see much if any constructed play. for standard It's too slow and it's just not very good in a format full of removal. Not impactful enough for legacy and just plain sucks in modern.

April 8, 2014 2:39 a.m.

Behgz says... #21

Without being able to sneak it into the combat step, no one would ever willingly walk into having their best creature revoked from the rest of a game, and EDH, how is that staple, it's a format of 1-of's, Aside from Commander's which can be recast, but really the opponent won't walk into a scenario like that. just seems bad IMO, maybe if it had an equip of 2, or a cost of only 1W, but 3 an 3 is too slow, for all formats to be relevant; nerfed.

April 8, 2014 2:44 a.m.

Dorotheus says... #22

Standard - Monowhite Devo, might be played, be more worried if Hexproof decks can utilize it
Modern - Barely sees combat tricks to even want this
Legacy - could be a one-of side board to deal with SOME True-Name Nemesis
EDH - Dies to everything, temporarily revokes a dude.

April 8, 2014 2:54 a.m.

The Doctor says... #23

Ignoring the second portion of the card (unless it's the rat deck), it's still extremely powerful.

It's essentially a "Hey, I'm going to try to get all this damage through. You can block if you want, but you probably don't want to".

April 8, 2014 2:55 a.m.

It says you may exile one creature no matter how many you block so why would hundred handed one be broken with Godsend? he would be a 6/8 monsterous then goto a 9/11 oh my god 9/11 its a sign.

April 8, 2014 4:01 a.m.

The Doctor says... #25

They probably just misread the card...

April 8, 2014 4:03 a.m.

p.s True-name has protection from named player ,all creatures that player controls are unable to block true-name that is why he is so broken so godsend wouldnt matter on him or against him. I mean +3/+3 but who cares there plenty of broken swords and stuff to put on true-name.

April 8, 2014 4:08 a.m.

Dorotheus says... #27

True, but reverse that, you're forgetting that IF True-Name Nemesis blocks a creature that is equip with Godsend, you can then exile that creature since Godsend does not choose or require a target.

April 8, 2014 4:49 a.m.

Dorotheus says... #28

It just becomes a race to get a Godsend equip on a True-Name.

April 8, 2014 4:51 a.m.

KingSorin says... #29

The problem is it's 3 mana to play and 3 mana to equip. If it was WW to play 3 to equip i think it'd see play, as you can curve a Soldier of the Pantheon into it, but it's only online at turn 4, and they'll probably keep removal up to gain lots of tempo. Nonetheless if you resolve one of these, and can suit something up as well as stabilise, it can take games.

April 8, 2014 5:06 a.m.

nfcnorth says... #30

I think this is a lot better than people are claiming here. Look at the swords they see some play in every format and they serve a similar role as this equipment (help you win combats) and cost about the same mana wise. Sure this thing doesn't do much other than pump for 3 if the creature isn't blocked. Sure the creature you equip to this is a little more vulnerable but if they have no way to interact with the creature you have this on (which for some reason it is always assumed the control deck always has) you are going to win all combat steps especially if this thing is on a dude with vigilance. Plus they cant just take three plus to the face forever so they are going to have to chump eventually.

April 8, 2014 8:54 a.m.

This card made Noble Quarry a scary card. Also Golgari Decoy , Lure , Prized Unicorn , Tangle Angler , etc.

Godsend will definitely see EDH play.

April 8, 2014 9:03 a.m.

MisterRoach says... #32

April 8, 2014 9:07 a.m.

No, no it doesn't.

ChiefBell says... #34

They've nerfed it too hard by making it 3 to play and then 3 to equip. It's most likely going to come out on T4 in most cases and even then be quite an investment.

Obviously it wants to go in a creature deck but then if you pay 3 mana T3 for it and then 3 mana T4 to equip - you haven't had any mana left over to actually play any creatures and it's gone on some lousy 2 drop. OR you play all your creatures out and get this out in the late game at which point - well wouldn't you rather just win by giving them all trample or something. If we're talking T7 as an example, you don't want to be exiling their stuff - you just want to swing for the win.

It's a card that only does something if the opponent chooses to let it do something - which is really, really lame for 6 mana. Also, it effectively does die to Doom Blade in standard. It's not modern or legacy playable because by god is it hella slow, and when you have access to 0-drop counterspells, a 3-drop sword that only does something if the opponent lets it is really lame. In EDH it could be fun if you force people to block, and this may be the case in modern too but really - it just dies to EVERYTHING. All the artifact hate, all the creature hate.

This card is 5/10. Has serious potential but probably too slow and unwieldy to be competitive. Would like to see it in a weird, janky deck, but I don't think it'll make a serious impact in top 8s.

April 8, 2014 9:41 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #35

I think we need to separate EDH play into - 'this is my deck that plays big creatures' type EDH play, and 'this is my deck that wins consistently T4' EDH play. It won't see play in the latter.

Panda213 says... #38

Good but not great. Too easy to kill and/or work around. They should've given it indestructible, THEN it'd be crazy good. Imo there are just better options.

Godsend
1WW
Legendary Artifact - Equipment
Equipped creature gets +3/+3

Whenever equipped creature blocks or is blocked by one or more creatures you may exile one of them. Your opponents can't cast cards with the same name of a card exiled by godsend.

Equip 3

maybe too slow, but this just seems like the lightsaber that Fiendslayer Paladin was looking for. I will certainly try it out.

This card is a psuedo-Sword of Kaldra . It will see play somewhere, and I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes another Sword staple or just a nice Sword.

And I bet it looks great as a foil.

Apoptosis says... #41

ChiefBell you are right at WW1 and 3 to equip it's rather slow, but not for a Selensya deck with ramp.

April 8, 2014 10:31 a.m.

Jay says... #42

I'm thinking it has a place sideboard in my Modern Death & Taxes deck to help deal with this Ramp deck I see a lot (2/2's and 3/3s have trouble vs Tooth and Nail targets).

And honestly, even if this thing flops I will love it. This is exactly my kind of card. Thank you Wizards

I kind of love everything about it but think it's lame at the same time. My inner Johnny is battling with my inner Spike.

A Selensya ramp deck can have it equiped by T4.

Also Selensya hexproof decks with Gladecover Scout , Witchstalker , Fiendslayer Paladin , plus this, Ethereal Armor , Unflinching Courage , etc.

even late game it's a bomb. I think it's the real deal.
