Help with Metagaming?

Hey guys,

So at my LGS, we've got a really big diverse base of decks. Here's a list of competitive-ish ones: Bogles, Tarmo-Twin, Naya Zoo, Scapeshift, Kiki Pod, Ad Nauseam, 8-Rack, UR Delver, and Burn. There's also a bunch of Tron, and occasionally Varolz/Death's Shadow.

Is there a deck that would be good in this meta? I don't play most of the above decks, so I'm turning to you guys for help. Any ideas?

Personally I think Hatebears is best in a diverse meta (all-around main board hate and strong sideboard options), but I may be biased because I think hqtebears is much better than it is haha

There seems to be only Aggro and Combo, meaning that Jeskai Control is probably the best option. Control has a very strong mainboard, and Wrath effects keep creatures at bay. It also has the strongest sideboard options.

Playing junk will give you a favourable match up against all of those aggro decks and the necessary removal to disrupt the combo decks. It is horrifically expensive though. Swap tarmogoyf for courser of kruphix and you can remove like $800 of the cost.

I agree with JexInfinite as UWR COntrol seems like a solid deck to play. I have an aggro/combo-full meta like the one listed above and my UWR control plays nicely...

ChiefBell, you nailed it. Hell, i would even suggest Jund with some interesting SB tweaks. Or lingering Jund

I have to agree with UWR Control (but I'm biased, as I love to play that deck):

-Wrath of God, Supreme Verdict, Anger of the Gods, and Engineered Explosives all destroy Bogles, Zoo, Affinity, and maybe those Varolz-Death's Shadow decks you're talking about. The Wraths and Anger are also good vs. Pod.

-Dispel and Negate are very strong against Scapeshift, Ad Nauseam, Burn, and maybe Twin.

-Treasure Cruise, Sphinx's Revelation, and Dig Through Time destroy 8-Rack.

-Burn spells and a healthy mix of disruption/card draw (basically, your mainboard) does well against UR Delver.

-Stony Silence, Tectonic Edge, and Cryptic Command are good against Tron (to some extent, though I mostly mean R/G Tron) and those aren't too bad vs. Pod.

Not to mention all of the very good mainboard cards you get to run, like Lightning Helix, Lightning Bolt, Path to Exile, Snapcaster Mage, Celestial Colonnade, Remand/Mana Leak, etc.

Hardest matchups are probably Pod (you have the tools, you just have to play it right), Splinter Twin (though I haven't really played the matchup that much, so I may be wrong.), and the mirror (which doesn't sound like a problem for you). The tron matchup seems awkward, but favorable for you.

Be wary of Bogles and 8-Rack, as those are very lopsided matchups. Ad Nauseam is also not in your favor assuming a strong pilot, nor is Scapeshift or Tron. However, those are all matchups that you can tune your sideboard to compete with.

Herpaderp, GlistenerAgent is right about the matchups. I don't know where my brain went when I wrote that part. XD Yeah... Bogles is definitely a good matchup for UWR... (it's not, btw)

I support both Hatebears and Junk in this meta personally... I feel each have the tools to deal with most of the listed decks. That being said I am biased towards these lists a bit. Junk is probably the best but as said Tarmogoyf makes it stupidly expensive. You can probably make a functional list without them but... well he is good.

Hatebears: affordable, competitive, and has cards that mess with each of those decks. Sometimes I just want to say I equipped a sword of fire and ice to a Gaddock Teeg against scapeshift.
