Slimefoot Aristos Suggestions

Commander Deck Help forum

Ladies and Gentleman of the jury,

Slimefoot Aristos

I'm looking for some feedback on this deck. My goal is to make it more competitive. Not the the point of cEDH. Rather, I'd like to win about 50%-ish of the time.

Money-wise, I'd be more inclined to upgrade as the weeks go on. Already I'm thinking Dictate of Erebos instead of Butcher of Malakir. Enchantments are far less squishy, of course.

I'd also eventually like another resilient sac outlet. Perhaps Phyrexian Tower or Phyrexian Altar. In addition, perhaps some type of Damnation board-wipe. I do have Gaze of Granite too which I'm not 100% sold on.

If I'm missing anything else please let me know.

Thank you.

Just as a straight swap, I prefer Syr Konrad, the Grim instead of Falkenrath Noble. A lot more events that will trigger on creatures dying.

Just as a personal preference, I feel like more Saproling generation could be included. A large portion of this list feels like it's focusing more around removal and sacrificing your stuff which is exactly what slimefoot wants, but if you have too many sac outlets and not enough to sac, then slimefoot won't trigger that often. I also think it's more economical to spend mana on a card in your hand to generate the saproling instead of using slimefoot. slimefoot will work once you have something like Ashnod's Altar and Parallel Lives sure, but that's if you draw them or one of the two tutors so the consistency could be off slightly.

But these thoughts and opinions may not apply to how you want to play your deck so I'd be really keen to hear how it plays out :) My own slimefoot is designed to be underwhelming on purpose, but it's not in a competitive environment so that's why this may not matter XD but it's won pretty consistently by not doing much for most of the game, slowly building saprolings and when it's too late, bombing the board for the win.

Hopefully this is of some help but if not, glad it's running well and will have to look at my own for improvements XD

I run slimefoot as my favorite go to deck. Look up Optimus Slime Prime Time. A couple cards to heavily consider: Spontaneous Generation and Saproling Symbiosis. These two cards can produce saprolings in a hurry. I know cards like bankrupt in Blood and altars reap look good but Skullclamp is far better as essentially its cast and first use will net you exactly the same amount of cards as altars reap ans will only to continue to do so the longer it sticks around. The Best draw engine for slimefoot is Keen Sense. Each time you sac a saproling, it deals 1 damage to each opponent, meaning keen sense triggers three times for each saproling death, so you draw up to 3 cards per saproling. Snake Umbra does the same thing but with a little more protection and a small power boost at the expense of more mana. Seedborn Muse is a powerhouse in slimefoot as she allows you to just pump whatever mana you have into slimefoot or jade made to just churn out tokens. I won't bore you with a bunch of other suggestions. Just check out my deck if youd like. I like to think its decently optimized. And wins consistently

Also if you want an immediate win condition, the old Life and Limb and Sporemound paired with a sac outlet and slimefoot is an immediate game over unless someone interrupts. However i dont run this because i dont really think its fun.

Thank you for the suggestions so far. I'm not sure why my browser isn't letting me +1 your posts. But again, thank you.

In regards to your thoughts about boardwipes, in about every other deck id say run 3-4 board wipes. Sadly as a token deck, you pretty much live and die by your board presence so often boardwipes tend to hurt you the most, so really they should be a last resort, so i wouldnt run more than one or two. In my deck i only run one: Toxic Deluge because its arguably the best board wipe black has, as it ignores indestructible and only costs three mana (my playgroup runs Gaddock Teeg a lot so that three cmc is more important than one would think)... But toxic deluge is also a pricey card so the next best would be black sun zenith

To make the deck more versatile and able to handle creatures well I would recommend Attrition it's a rather underrated old enchantment that does the trick well especially in token decks.

A key factor I find in commander often is value and cards win you the game, that being said Yawgmoth, Thran Physician is another really decent card to add in. Also I would highly recommend while it is still inexpensive that you pick up a Bolas's Citadel

Tibus

I do have a Citadel, but I'm not sure about it.

I agree with Tibus' comment about value and how good yawgmoth is. However he is a bit on the pricier side. Smothering Abomination and Psychotrope Thallid are good draw engines that fit your deck well. The newly printed Woe Strider is also a fantastic new addition to consider. Also: Sprout Swarm is a must have
