With no ban-list, what is the best kitchen table deck that can be built for <$100?

I'm interested in seeing what is the best possible kitchen table magic deck for less than $100 dollars. This means any card from any set, no ban-list, but stick to only <= 4 of a card (unless the card says otherwise), E.G. no 30 squadron hawks. No need to worry about side-boards unless you want to. Here's my quick attempt at a mono-blue (I wonder if there will be non-mono colored decks) standstill. If you have any feedback for other people's deck lists, please share.

mono-blue "Land"Still: 2x Faerie Conclave 4x Lotus Petal 4x Gitaxian Probe 4x Mental Misstep 4x Standstill 4x Mishra's Factory 4x Delver of Secrets 3x Jace, Cunning Castaway 4x Ponder 3x Ghost Quarter 12x Island 4x Daze 3x Counterspell 1x Jace Beleren 1x Treasure Cruise 1x Dig Through Time 2x Vapor Snag

All I have to say is Channel, Balance, and Fireball. ‘Nuff said.

landofMordor that sounds like a good idea. Would you mind making a quick deck around those cards. It seems like the land base might be hard. What ways can you protect/tutor for the combo? Do you think this deck could beat "land"still? I'm interested to see what deck is the best.

Here's a quick balance deck I made, are any changes you would make? Who wants to tackle making a channel fireball deck.

"balanced game play": 1x Sol Ring 3x Winter Orb 2x Tangle Wire 4x Journey to Nowhere 2x Elspeth, Sun's Champion 4x Oblivion Ring 3x Luminarch Ascension 4x Gideon of the Trials 4x Balance 4x Ghost Quarter 19x Plains 4x Swords to Plowshares 4x Authority of the Consuls 2x Ghostly Prison

Would someone take a few minutes and make a necropotence deck? After the obvious dark rituals, what would the other 52 be?

Sure —- there are two decks here, probably, which helps with manabase. One built around Balance and then a channel deck too.

For Balance, you essentially want a deck that’s tons of artifact mana and then planeswalkers (the two things Balance doesn’t hit). Use Foil and Daze to back up your pieces. Use Sol Ring to accelerate out a Gideon or Jace planeswalker.

For Channel, you’re essentially looking to slam an Emrakul, the Promised End or Sundering Titan on T2. Backup plan is to Lightning Bolt your opponent below your life total and then Fireball for the kill.

Fair warning: both those decks are incredibly broken. They’re banned/restricted even in Vintage, so they will make you 0 friends whatsoever. That is why Channel and Balance are so cheap, because they’re banned in almost everything.

There’s also Manaless Dredge, which is cute (can kill T1) and sorta Legacy playable if you decide to move away from kitchen table. There are great primers on this online.

landofMordor I'm mostly interested in seeing what the most powerful deck within these restrictions can be. For example that could include decks with 4 necropotence (restricted in every format). Or, a deck like my balance deck above. If you have a more powerful <=$100 manaless dredge deck, I would be interested in seeing it (I'm sorry if that came across as sarcastic, I'm genuinely interested).

Gotcha. Well, I think you’ve pretty much narrowed down the two or three most powerful decks out there. Ironically, very few decklists exist of those archetypes, so a “tuned” list is mostly up to you, haha! Good luck, friend!

Should the deck not always have 4x Sol Ring? Pretty much the best mana rock other then the obvious ones... but I doubt you want to buy moxs/Black Lotus...

I've made a couple of decks for around $100

The first one is a Reanimator deck, it's fairly powerful, able to reanimate some very big things very fast.

You may want to be on the draw, and not play a land on turn 1 to be able to discard a fatty to hand size on turn 1 with this deck, and then just reanimate it a turn or two later :)

The second is a Goblins deck, for if you prefer to just play creatures and get your opponent dead as fast as you can

Hopefully these have given you some ideas as to what sort of thing you can do

You may want to make a more fun/weird combo deck rather than something linear like these, there are so many different decks that you can make!
