Mortician Beetle is my favorite black one-drop that just never seems to work. As such, my current project is (yet another) attempt at finding a place for him in one of my decks. The purpose of this deck is pretty straightforward: burn through your opponent while your beetle gets huge. The cards I have listed in the Main and Sideboards are the cards that I physically own and are sleeved-up in those positions as of this posting. I have creature cards, standard red/black cards (like Blightning ), card draw, sacrifice-removal, and a couple big spells. The main issues I'm currently dealing with are: instant-speed removal rendering 2/3 of my creatures useless and lifegain spells for obvious reasons. So, what I'm looking at right now is Lavaclaw Reaches for more consistent damage and blocking potential and anti-lifegain spells like Skullcrack . Are these good ideas, bad ideas; do you have any better ideas? Suggestions, criticisms appreciated.
