Sideboard

This atypical Zoo build takes advantage of the combination of the new Revolt mechanic and Reckless Bushwhacker to combo out for large amounts of early game damage, potentially swinging for lethal as early as Turn 2. Its ability to rapidly flood the board with efficient creatures is second to none in the current meta, and because its threats are so distributed, the deck is willing to make 1-to-1 trades for spot removal without significantly affecting its game plan.

Here is an example of how the Revolt/Bushwhacker combo generally works.

Turn 1: Stomping Ground + Kird Ape
Turn 2: Windswept Heath, fetch a Forest + Hidden Herbalists + Burning-Tree Emissary + Reckless Bushwhacker (Surge Cost) + Swing 11
Turn 3: Arid Mesa, fetch a Mountain + Narnam Renegade + Goblin Guide + Swing 10

This kind of relentless, distributed beatdown is what makes Revolt Zoo so strong. Any creature could have been targeted by spot removal at any point in the scenario above, and it would still have resulted in close to 20 damage by the end of Turn 3.

This particular build forgoes running Wild Nacatl and the two additional shock lands that are required to run it in Zoo. The ability to fetch for basics rather than shock lands in early game is also beneficial and in some cases has actually been enough to make the difference in close games.

The latest update to the deck is the addition of four Dryad Militant because of how powerfully their passive ability preys on a variety of common decks in the competitive meta, including those running Snapcaster Mage like Grixis Shadow or Jescai Control, as well as combo decks like Storm.

The Blood Moon sideboard tech is pretty straightforward in this deck, typically utilizing the following substitutions:

-2 Avatar of the Resolute
-2 Flex Spot

+3 Blood Moon
+1 Rootbound Crag

The extra land is added so Blood Moon can be cast in early game more consistently.
