Sideboard

Have a blast playing the deck, Mind Blast, A budget friendly Grixis deck built around Mindshrieker and Calibrated Blast.

MindBlast

Gameplan

"The secret is simply to know what you're going to do before you even see the possibilities"-Porlema'ko, mind mage

The gameplan is to use Mindshrieker or Calibrated Blast in conjunction with a high CMC card on the top of your library. Scheming Symmetry makes this plan trivial, you'll get immediate value from your top-deck, and you can even remove your opponent's top-deck using Mindshrieker's ability.

Opening Hand

This deck aims to start with a bang. You may want to consider mulligans on any hand that does not open with Calibrated Blast or Mindshrieker.

Sphinx of Foresight will allow you to arrange the top of your library for a perfect set-up, and also provides a hefty 4/4 flying body to close out the game.

Midgame

“I reeled from the blow, and then suddenly, I knew exactly what to do. Within moments, victory was mine.” —Gustha Ebbasdotter, Kjeldoran Royal Mage

In midgame, the best play likely playing Scheming Symmetry to search for Calibrated blast. You may have the mana to cast it again using Flashback if it whiffs when aiming for lethal damage.

Lategame

The game should be over quickly, with your opponent scooping. You'll probably not want to grind it out, but be more mindful than Kefnet of any Otherworldly Gaze or Calibrated Blast in your graveyard, it could be all you need.

Sideboard tech

“It’s hard to say which is more satisfying: the search for that missing piece or fitting that piece into place.” —Evo Ragus

If your opponent is playing significant creature hate, such as Mono-black, you can sideboard out Mindshrieker for Riddle of Lightning and transform the deck into a direct damage engine. Alternatively, against blue counterspells, you can sideboard in Summoning Trap. Since this deck is loaded with large creatures, you are certain to get value.

“The best answers solve more than one riddle.” —Kefnet, god of knowledge
