Midnight Burn: Your Time's Up!

Standard BR (Rakdos) Burn

SK1LLSHOT

Sideboard

Today we have a sick brew to take full advantage of Midnight Oil. The most important part of the deck tech is knowing how midnight oil works. This is a 4 drop enchantment that allows us to draw an extra card every turn for the rest of the game. Get multiples and you draw that many more. The important rule to know is that your hand size is not checked until the cleanup step at the very end of your turn. So, even if you have zero counters on midnight oil you MAY draw as many cards as you want and play them all too, you just need to have zero at the end your cleanup step. Also, if you play an additional Midnight Oil the NEW one is your hand size. This is why we play the full playset. The downside? You lose 1 life each time you discard a card... I think we can deal with that.

The best way to abuse extra cards is to be fast, and not rely on creatures. Mass removal can ruin our plan of card advantage if they 4-for-1 our board. Instead, we want to cast spells every turn and not run out of 'em.

Here is what I came up with, can we do better? Let me know! Thanks in advance, and if you think I deserve a bump throw a thumb at me bro.

Glad to say Midnight Oil has performed exactly as hoped. We get 2 cards every turn, which very frequently gives us 6 dmg a turn. at that point if they don't have an Emrakul, the Promised End ready to go turn 6 we just win. One time I had a slow hand, my opponent emrakul'd me and wasted my last spells on myself putting me to a healthy 21 (lol). Then I untapped, drew 2 cards and burned him for 6. So even when emrakul lands its not over, especially if you have a Midnight Oil or two out.

Here are the changes: Thermo-Alchemist is a must include, really a power house against any match up even if he is removed. At the very least we tax them 2 mana their next turn to remove him.

Insolent Neonate perfectly fills our one drop spot which was missing

Bloodhall Priest is not good against decks with plenty of removal. paying 3 mana to tax them 2 sometimes is bad, also our hand is empty a lot less than I expected (which is good actually) so this can go to the sideboard against creature decks. 4/4's block all of the 3/2's , 2/3's and 3/5's :)

Both Tormenting Voice and Cathartic Reunion are overpowered in this deck. Not sure which is stronger, it always depends on your current hand. Will continue testing to see if one edges out the other. For now there are 2 of each, which honestly might be the right way to go. If we can handle 4 Cathartic Reunion that will be switched.

Sideboard: still evolving, but I like card advantage against control, creatures against decks that don't have removal, and kalitas against aggro.
