Check my deck out and let me know what you think. Taking it to PPTQ this Sunday. Been crushing the FNM netdeckingers. Feel like there's still room to improve. Might also give you ideas for your next deck.

Brainstrain2424 I do not disagree with you at all. I think your suggestions are 100% sound. I do not think I am wrong either. After my testing I find the Walking Ballista to be good but the power level is just not fast enough to kill the opponent quickly. That's why I, and many other current lists, are running 3 I believe. Gideon is a "must draw" card in many games and is such a strong card I would play 7 mainboard if I could. I am also humble and know that the "hive-mind" of online players have figured out the correct balance of these cards, so looking at top tier mardu lists is our best bet. Neither is wrong, I prefer this build.

Negate > Disallow 95% of the time. We almost never need to counter creatures and the spells that kill/sac/negate our aggressive plays are what we want to stop, as well as vehicles. I throw in a single Stasis Snare so we can answer that random creature if it comes up.

Spire of Industry is for 3 color decks and we splash just a lil for Scrapheap Scrounger. Again depends on who you are looking to beat. If it was a hard control meta i would do the spires to more consistently get scroungers back. However there is so much aggro that I do not want to burn myself, even for 1. Again, ur not wrong just think its a preference.

dizzycriminal the main deck counters are to stop the seheeli combo, and potentially more important is to protect our spell quellers. Getting their spell is fun and dandy, but if they get their key removal spell back then it was all for nothing many times.

Noctem I love the idea of Walking Ballista , Scrapheap Scrounger, Toolcraft Exemplar, and Heart of Kiran. However, if it turns into an aggro deck, it is no longer a "flash" deck and I really think leaving your opponent on their toes of what you have and what you will do is totally worth slowing the game down a bit, and surgically countering the cards you need to.

Noctem Great advice. The old deck played Reflector Mage which was a way to get a body on the ground which we no longer have. I have implemented changes based on your comments. what do you think?

  • +3 heart of kiran and +4 Walking ballista

  • -2 skywhaler shot, -2 spell shrivel, -2 Aethersphere H., and -1 island

thanks for the advice. I went for Spell Shrivel over rebuff because it is better longer into the match, but yes that spell can be so clutch. Its high risk high reward. I wanted to keep my list as consistent as possible in this meta, because the top decks just lose to themselves so often right now. Mardu has terrible mana, and 4-C saheeli sometimes just doesn't do much of anything besides cycle and make energy. If we can just curve out a A- game we beat them 75%+ percent of the time. You can beat their nut draw with revolutionary rebuff, but you could also lose to their turn 8 combo if thats the only answer you have.

to summarize, both are great i just went with Spell Shrivel and Disallow in the board for the late game usefulness.

most underrated card in standard aggro = Ride Down. Believe me, it wont let you down. Got to top 8 at 3 different pptq's with mardu vehicles, and the only card I added of my own was Ride Down. Best card in the deck. If they are not blocking your creatures, they are just losing anyways
