What is Dead May Never Die

Standard* UB (Dimir) Zombie

Vasilas

Sideboard

Something I'm currently working on for standard, would love any comments or criticisms. The general focus is to outvalue opponents into the midgame by playing cards like Prized Amalgam and Relentless Dead. The Sideboard is very much a work in progress.

Cryptbreaker:A great one drop for zombies, In my opinion the card that finally made zombies viable in standard. Feeding your graveyard and getting zombies at the same time is excellent and the card draw is there if you need it.

Relentless Dead:Don't ask me why Wizards printed this card but they did, and zombie fans around the world rejoiced. 2 mana for a 2/2 that will never leave, that can bring all of your other zombies back at any time. Oh, and it has menace, because why not.

Corpse Churn:Great for filling our graveyard, lets you play aggressively. Saves any of your early creatures like Relentless Dead/Cryptbreaker.

Negate:We run this mainboard to help against Collected company and Planeswalkers. Its also decent against U/W Spirits for Oujutai's Command.

Grasp of Darkness:This card makes your opponents creatures dead. Avacyn ruining your day? DEAD. Lambholt pacifist chowing on your face? DEAD. Pretty much any threat in standard? DEAD.

Diregraf Colossus:A 3 mana powerhouse, exactly what we need! This is frequently going to hit the board with multiple counters on it and will build your board with 2/2s. It also has the added benifit of hitting lategame when played from the graveyard with Gisa and Geralf or Relentless Dead, often winning the game by itself.

Prized Amalgam:Prized Amalgam may seem like a vanilla 3/3, but in this deck it turns into a 3/3 that never leaves your board. Feel free to block every turn and watch as your opponent pulls his/her hair out at their inability to deal with a 3/3.

Ruinous Path:A great removal spell that can hit both creatures and walkers. I prefer this to ultimate price for versatility seeing as we can pretty much always hit the double black when we need it.

Liliana, the Last Hope:This card is amazing. Liliana, the Last Hope is being scorned for not being a reprint of Liliana of the Veil but brings plenty of value of her own to the table. Slowing down your opponents creatures is very helpful and can make huge creatures blockable with things like Prized Amalgam. Return creatures to your hand while feeding your graveyard is exactly what we want and Liliana's -2 hits gold. If you get her Ult off you can rest assured your opponent will be drowned in so many zombies that they can't hope to hold on for more than a few turns, all but a guaranteed win.

Languish: This card kills their board quite nicely and yours usually doesn't care all too much. Excellent against Bant Company.

Gisa and Geralf:Following the staples of this deck, we have a very strong 4/4 body that fills your graveyard that allows you to treat is as an extension of your hand.

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet:A 3/4 with lifelink that builds your board anytime your opponent loses a creature? Sign me up! On top of that you can sack tokens to pump for massive lifegain. An expensive investment but extremely worthwhile.

Sidisi, Undead Vizier: A highly undervalued card in my opinion. a 4/6 body is excellent in this meta as its about the biggest thing out there. Deathtouch and being able to tutor any card in your deck is extremely handy as well. A side note that if you have Diregraf Colossus out you can exploit the token that gets created as you cast Sidisi.

Sideboard:

Transgress the Mind:A great card that acts as a pseudo thoughtseize for hitting things that you really don't want to see.

Ruinous Path, Grasp of Darkness, Ultimate Price:Extra removal is always nice when you need it. Tech against more midrange style decks.

Fleshbag Marauder:A nice fast creature with a drawback that doesn't hurt you, removes pesky creatures in the control matchup and grows your board if you have a Kalitas out.

4x Compelling Deterrence:A great tech card to have against aggro, bounces their big threats and often times makes them discard something they really need.

Tainted Remedy: There is a surprising amount of life gain in standard at the moment, and this puts an end to that. B/W Angel control is hit particularly hard by this as it negates lifegain from Gisela, Sorin, and Shambling Vents.
