So ever since the initial spoiling of Ixalan, I had wanted to make a Pirate Standard Deck. Then, as more Treasure cards were introduced, I got the idea of building a deck around making as much treasure as possible and utilizing it via Improvise in the midgame.
The main finishers are either Mechanized Production on Treasure (for an instant win once you already have 8 treaures, or the more risky method of playing before then, which may result in removal), or Bontu's Last Reckoning + Revel in Riches
, wiping the board and generating treasure for each opponent's creature, as well as any Dire Fleet Hoarders you may have.
Other utility cards are Treasure Map, which, in addition to the flip effect, allows you to filter through your deck with any excess mana for combo pieces. Additionally, Reverse Engineer will almost always be a "UU: Draw 3" since you can tap Treasure for free, or even excess Treasure Maps or Thaumatic Compasses.
In the meantime, since this deck runs only utility creatures, the remainder of the deck is hard control.
One card I am uncertain about is Thaumatic Compass. It is pricey in the early game (in its unflipped form) and serves really as Improvise fodder unless you're really mana screwed. However, after it pops, it becomes a 2 mana Maze of Ith (minus the ability to target your own creatures).
I am very much open to comments and critiques. I built this deck at a lower price point (removed fatal push and such) and plan on expanding the list as I get feedback from playing and from you!
Sideboard: This deck relies on your opponent eventually building up a certain number of creatures in order to pull off the Bontu's Last Reckoning + Revel in Riches
combo, which is why I sideboarded Dowsing Dagger. I expect Standard to be flooded with Merfolk, Pirate, and Dino spam, so I figure popping off in the late game won't be a problem, but if the meta does not go the way of wide boardstates, Dowsing Dagger gives your opponent 2 useless creatures and if attached to a flier such as Siren Stormtamer, can yield a pretty nice bit of ramp.
