Sideboard

This is a control/combo deck based around getting an assload of mana and bouncing everything.Important note: The ratios of green to blue mana are slightly biased towards green. This is, believe it or not, on purpose. You specifically need forests to work with Utopia Sprawl and Arbor Elf. Therefore it's better to use the multicolored lands to fix towards blue if possible. This also gives Evolving Wilds an edge over Thornwood Falls.

Early game, the deck can get an advantage by setting up a bunch of low-mana land enchants and land untappers.Midgame, the deck looks for additional combo pieces and control options with cantrips. Here the conventionally strongest play is to hold up both Mana Leak and Forbidden Alchemy. If the opponent doesn't respect mana leak, then they get leaked. If they do, you don't mind, just cast forbidden alchemy.

The lategame starts when you decide to go for the combo by casting Freed from the Real or Vigean Graftmage when you are properly set up to get infinite mana. Infinite green mana is nice - it can lead to flashbacked Forbidden Alchemy into a win, or to 2/3 capsizes - but to establish a hard lock, the mana has to be blue. With infinite blue mana, the deck chains together any remaining cantrips and flashes back Forbidden Alchemy until it hits Capsize, either the card itself or Mystical Teachings to find it. Then it's a simple process to bounce an opponent's entire board every turn, and attack with mana creatures for the win.

The #1 weakness of the deck is Ghost Quarter, which is uncounterable, disrupts the combo, and also disrupts the early-game ramp. This or other land destruction tech is what the basics are in the side for. The actual non-narrow hate option this deck struggles with is instant speed removal, and the caliber of response to this threat is likely to determine who is a good pilot. Try and figure out if your opponent uses their lighting to stop your mana ramp, or if they save it for the combo. Both of these can be exploited, by siding in additional combo pieces and going to town, or by never comboing off and using your mana ramp to beat them at card advantage.
