Thanks for the suggestion squarelles. It's an interesting card, but I feel that Reaper of the Wilds is much stronger. It is initially cheaper, has an evasion ability, and can help me filter.

Although...it would certainly give them pause in activating Tormod's Crypt ...hmm I'll have to think about it.

also, some sort of reanimation or graveyard return like Treasured Find

Whip of Erebos and Commune with the Gods would be good in this deck

Nyx Weaver maybe?

The problem I see with Commune with the Gods is that it isn't a creature card or instant speed, and I don't want to run fewer creatures. I am very sad that Grisly Salvage is leaving standard. Satyr Wayfinder serves a much better purpose because he can activate Sidisi and/or be exiled with Pharika -- and he serves as a chump blocker early game.

Whip of Erebos is something that I will consider.

Nyx Weaver is a great card, but the 3 CMC slot is already a bit clogged. It has to compete with Courser of Kruphix and Pharika. Both of those are essential. Courser nets me life from lands, ramps, and helps me to thin my library quicker of lands so that I can toss those creatures into the yard. For example, by playing a Polluted Delta off of my top with him I thin the deck by 2.

I may consider Nyx Weaver for the SB if I am having problems with flier heavy decks.

Thanks for all the comments!!!!

I may sound crazy here, but I honestly dont think Courser should be in this deck, she id going to telegraph every trick you have to your opponent while not really helping your deck synergy at all. She will gain you maybe 2-3 life before being removed, I personally think nyx weaver in place of courser helps your deck far more. Its synergy with sidisi is strong and with your game revolving around sidisi and pharika tokens, you dont really need much mana ramp IMO. Also all the delve cards have not been revealed yet, so with delve you wont really need all that much mana.

@patsfan32189 Interesting opinion. You are right about the Courser revealing the top cards to my opponent -- but this also reveals it to me as well. Knowing for sure that I will get a token with Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is awesome (assuming there's a creature card on top).

The life gain is quite important against aggro and burn and to alleviate Thoughtseize and Mana Confluence .

As I mentioned in an earlier comment, Courser also helps me thin my deck quicker, removing lands so I can hit those essential creatures in the graveyard.

Knowing what's on top is very nice if I'm unsure whether to cast Sultai Charm to draw cards (or even use Jace for that matter).

I will definitely test it with Nyx Weaver , but I'm not sold on it at this point. As you point out, it could also depend on if some really strong delve cards are spoiled.

While I see why you like Courser, I think it could be replaced, or at least cut in numbers. I would only run 2, and then open up slots for Nyx Weaver.

Nyx Weaver is extremely powerful in dredge decks, simply because it allows you to return ANY card to your hand, not just creatures. You can take back that Whip that you missed because there was no Commune, or the Sidisi that you milled with your Wayfinder on T2. And with Whip in play, it's literally an extra copy of any card you want in your grave.

I would also consider Necropolis Fiend because of its Delve ability, letting you play something for 2 mana that's leagues better than Nemesis of mortals (and anyone who's played G/B Dredge knows how great that card is to drop T3 and bestowed T4).

Thanks tntturtle5. Your argument about returning stuff with him is very relevant and something I kind of overlooked for some reason.

I cut one Courser and one Reaper of the Wilds to fit a couple in.

I want to fit one Whip of Erebos mainboard. Any thoughts on what I could remove?

I'm still thinking about Necropolis Fiend . I want some kind of delve mechanic in here, but I'm also waiting to see what else is spoiled.

I would sincerely recommend 1-2 of Thassa, God of the Sea . It will not be a creature, but works great with Weaver, sidisi, courser to manipulate the top of the deck.

Why not Nighthowler ? Perfect for your deck. Consider dropping Thoughtseize . They are better in sideboard.

You might want to keep Reaper of the Wilds because of its obvious good evasion and scrying ability, but have you thought about Erebos's Emissary ? It can help you discard creature cards AND pump itself/bestowed creature. On a side note, you might want to put in another Pharika, God of Affliction simply because it only costs three and you want to draw it early, but that's not a big deal.

@ Boza Thassa, God of the Sea would be interesting, but I'm not sure I want too many more gods because unless they are activated, they can't block. I don't have enough blue devotion in the deck to reliably make her a creature. I'll consider and playtest 1-2 of her.

@spyroswiz The problem with Nighthowler is that it actually has a pretty bad synergy with Pharika, God of Affliction and delve cards, which hopefully I will be adding to this deck. Thoughtseize is my favorite card in Standard and I have ran it in every deck that has black that I have constructed. It is just too powerful, especially on t1 or t2. I have literally won games by just discarding their ramp creature on the first couple of turns.

@will1210 I have been aching to play a competitive deck with Reaper of the Wilds since she was revealed in Theros. Erebos's Emissary is an interesting card, but its bestow cost is relatively high and I really need stuff that can dodge removal. I do like the synergy it has with discarding creature cards, so I will consider it. There's just so much to fit in that's it's difficult to decide.

I have also considered adding another Pharika, that will just be playing with the numbers.

Haha I have the same feeling about Reaper of the Wilds , but it seems like all the best cards that would synergize with it are no longer standard legal!

UpsetYoMama says... #17

In some ways. I think she will do well in this deck because I will be losing a lot of token creatures to blocking or swinging out, so stuff will be dieing. The scry ties in well with Courser and Sidisi. That's why I am running her over Polukranos, World Eater . I also really like her evasion. And her deathtouch ability is just icing on the cake.

I'd tend to agree with the earlier suggestions that Nyx Weaver is a better role player than Courser of Kruphix . Your deck is relatively low on self mill, and this provides mill on a guy, with reach, that also provides limited recitation! Curving Nyx Weaver into Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is also a very strong curve!

I like the way you have take your deck however, more midrange, and less reliant on the graveyard.

September 4, 2014 9:49 p.m.

Thank you now i don't have to tear my old dredge apart completely! they released the new try land for BUG and did you think about Prophet of Kruphix?

September 5, 2014 2:30 p.m.

UpsetYoMama says... #20

Sultai Ascendancy is going in here as soon as I tappedout uploads it.

Prophet of Kruphix might take the place of Prognostic Sphinx , but I feel I might be too vulnerable to Anger of the Gods then overall.

I'm not sure about the triland. The temples are warranted because I at least get to scry. I have the 4x Mana Confluence and I will most likely just end up using them.

September 5, 2014 5:03 p.m.

Jmulloy says... #21

You should play less lands(something like 20) and a bunch of mana dorks that you can hit with Sidisi, Brood Tyrant . Also you should consider running Nemesis of Mortals and Empty the Pits . Empty the Pits can just win games out of nowhere and who doesn't want a 10/10 for 4 mana.

September 6, 2014 11:34 a.m.

UpsetYoMama says... #22

I'll consider going down to about 22 lands, but I think 20 may be a bit low. Nemesis of Mortals and Pharika, God of Affliction work against each other, unfortunately.

I am on the fence about Empty the Pits . Part of me looks at the mana cost and facepalms, even with delve. But then if I have a full graveyard...it's something I will have to playtest. It may end up finding a home in my SB against slower decks like control.

September 6, 2014 11:45 a.m.

UpsetYoMama says... #23

One thing I really do like about Empty the Pits is instant speed. At least they got that right. Otherwise, a control player would just nuke them with a sweeper...I will get at least one turn to attack with them all as long as I play it EOT on their turn.

September 6, 2014 11:52 a.m.

Jmulloy says... #24

I have built a similar deck to this one but with only 20 lands no pharika and 12 mana dorks (elvish mystic, voyaging satyr, sylvan caryatid) and also 4 satyr wayfinder makes it very easy to hit enough lands. nemesis of mortals is generally just a must hae in dredge style decks as it lets you have a 10/10 extremely easy early. I think pharika doesn't do enough for you in this deck it makes blockers but will never really do much more than that. but nemesis of mortals has to be removed but then you empty the pits for 10 zombies and shake your opponents hand.

I've removed Courser of Kruphix for now, although it pained me to do so.

Current things you can help me with:

Adding 1x Whip of Erebos mainboard. What to remove?

Hero's Downfall vs. the recently spoiled Murderous Cut. My only thought is that Empty the Pits is going to require some serious cardage in the graveyard. In addition, only Hero's Downfall and Jace, the Living Guildpact allow me to remove planeswalkers without attacking.

I think Necropolis Fiend will be a strong card in the SB after they side in answers to deal with Empty the Pits . It's all about those mindgames...
