multimedia Thanks for your suggestions! My deck did run Balduvian Rage for a long time; but I decided against it for two reasons: for one; it’s a fake instant. You can only cast it on an Attacking creature, so you completely miss out on the recast ability a “lesser” card like, say, Titan's Strength gives you. That, plus the fact that you pretty much have to tap out (4 mana for a pump spell is a LOT in this deck) to make it equal to said Titan's Strength just isn’t worth it imo. Plus, Orim’s Thunder is a repeatable destruction spell that I can kick while Sunforger tutors it up; which I find baddass.

Stand Firm is a highly underrated card in this deck as scrying two in the late game really helps me dig for answers or protection; and honestly I think more decks should run it. The stat boost is minimal compared to the recurring value of possibly scrying 8 before your next turn begins. That said; if they ever print an instant of Seize the Day that is 4CMC or less you’d better bet your ass I’ll add it in.

Knight of the White Orchid was originally in this deck but I removed it for a Tithe , so that way I can search for Mistveil Plains and get that sweet Sunforger synergy. If I could make a cut that would allow me both Knight AND the Bauble I’d be happy; as the Knight is situational in that I need LESS lands than my opponent whereas Bauble don’t care. That, and I run Bauble for the minute chance I can drop it whilst I control a Monastery Mentor . That’s it. Knight is just a decent bear that I wouldn’t want to target over any other creature in the deck.

Guttersnipe is, admittedly, a great card; that I would love to reinclude at some point just for pure value; but alas the vast majority of the time I win through Feather going face REALLY hard instead of my tokens getting the reacharound; so Guttersnipe’s aoe damage isn’t as valuable to me right now... plus, Akroan Conscriptor has some Janky combos of his own; allowing me to Cloudshift a creature he stole to allow me to keep it for forever: or even Path to Exile it so I can ramp while removing their board! :D

Forbidden Orchard is neat; though I’m not a fan of giving my opponents reseources when my gameplan is to out value them. Ill give it thought.

Any thoughts on Mox Diamond?

dazhaun If I could get my hands on one I wouldn’t mind it; however I seldom find myself with enough lands AND artifacts in hand to make it a necessity. I like Mox’s to be able to put out Feather with mana open, not necessarily to play her early.

dazhaun upon further testing; I actually came to the conclusion that I really don’t need nor want Mox Diamond in my list: I rarely got to a point where I had the amount of lands in hand to actually play it late game; and with my lower land count I rarely ever got a chance to play it on the early turns and benefit. The only time it ever felt good was when I kept a 3 lander with the Diamond, and peeled my fourth land off the top: allowing me to ramp and meep mana open for protection... but see; I didn’t really accomplish anything with the Diamond. All I did was effectively skip my draw step and play an additional land for turn: and in a deck where I really want to draw into more fas for my engine I just couldn’t justify the slot nor the price.

I did however, add Mox Opal . It doesn’t suffer from making me waste resources to turn on, has an equally niche application early game; but is almost never bad late game unless I just got whacked by a board wipe.

Hey! I really like your build and I run a similar one, but a bit more budget and got a couple of questions for you if you have time!

I was wondering if you had tested Unwinding Clock ? I am looking at it to replace Paradox Engine which is out of range for me.

Also, Have you tried Aria of Flame ? Any thoughts on it?

I am curious to get your point of view on Veilstone Amulet . Is it a must for you or do you find it a bit redundant with all the instants protections this deck has?

I also noticed you don't run Zada, Hedron Grinder or Mirrorwing Dragon , were they not performing enough in your deck or..?

Finally, have you considered or felt the need to add more Stax cards to your deck?

Thanks!

xiud Thanks for your comment! I personally love Mirrorwing And Zada, and when they pop off for you then they simply pop off... but for how my deck was functioning; they were just far too high opportunity cost and really threw a cog in the works for how many spells I could sling in between turns. Mirrorwing somewhat can allieviate this by being hard to interact with; I just didn’t ever drop them in this deck and really feel satisfied.

Paradox Engine , Sword of Feast and Famine , and Runaway Steam-Kin fulfil the “storm” engine I need to allow me to churn and burn through my hand so well that I just don’t find I need Zada or Dragon.

It was far too often I would scry them to the bottom because I just didnt have enough creatures out for them to be attractive to me. That being said; when you would have the stars align and have one of them out alongside a token producer; you would accelerate... but this seemingly never happened for me. It’s a four card combo to not win the game.

Unwinding Clock is actually an interesting idea and I may actually start playtesting it; so thank you for that!

The Amulet is good when it’s good and underwhelming when it’s not; if anything I like it just as another form of protection that I can also simultaneously draw cards under; so i doubt I’ll ever drop it just for novelties sake. You could drop it and the deck wouldn’t suffer however.

Aria of Flame is sweet. Personally, I like it a bit more than Aetherflux Reservoir as a wincon due to the ramp up effect staying around, and it draws a significantly smaller amount of hate then fishbowl. It’s one of those cards that I’d love to put in but don’t know what to drop for it.
