Shah of Naar Isle

Creature — Efreet

Trample

Echo (0) (At the beginning of your upkeep, if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, sacrifice it unless you pay its echo cost.)

When Shah of Naar Isle's echo cost is paid, each opponent may draw up to three cards.

Yes, that works. Shah of Naar Isle's Echo cost got paid, so the last ability will trigger. Your opponent will control that trigger when it's put onto the stack, so each of that player's opponents will draw cards.

At the start of my turn, I control, Zedruu the Greathearted and a Shah of Naar Isle, which came into play during my previous turn.

Shah of Naar Isle has an upkeep trigger that, once paid, will trigger a second ability.

I would like to, during my upkeep, let the upkeep triggers of my two creatures go on the stack, (as I have to.) Then, once I have priority, I would pay the cost of Zedruu's activated ability and gift away my Shah of Naar Isle

My logic is, that I control the triggered ability of Shah, on the stack, and I can choose to pay the 0.

My hope is that the opponents new Shah will then see its upkeep cost being paid, and this will trigger Shah's other ability, letting me, (and potential other players) draw three cards upon resolution.

Would this work in actuality? Or is there a rules quirk that prevents this.

Make sure with this list that you keep in mind Shah of Naar Isle is a may ability, your opponent does not have to draw the three cards, they have the option to decline. I'm sure you know this and it's in their more as a beater since you don't mind them having cards, but, just want to make sure.

I do like your inverse The Rack strategy, it's really neat. Have you thought about adding Dictate of Kruphix. More Howling Mine effects seem to be just what this deck needs.

You could also add Ancestral Vision since you can target your opponent to draw three but that is a bit more pricey.

As I mentioned in the stream tonight, Shah of Naar Isle is a great and cheap way to get a lot of people to draw a lot of cards to feed into the God.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but Shah of Naar Isle cannot exist on Theros without a planeswalker's help, because Naar Isle is a location on a plane called Wildfire. The same goes for Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer, who is from Alara (more specifically, Bant). Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa is from Dominaria (Jamuraa). Swans of Bryn Argoll are from Lorwyn/Shadowmoor. All of the lands that reference the Ravnica guilds in the title obviously don't make sense, as well as Jeskai Ascendancy, Kodama's Reach, and Bant Charm. Keep in mind that I am not evaluating cards based on flavor text or art, and are evaluating them in a "If this were reprinted in a new Theros block, would it make sense, even with new art and flavor text if need be" kind of way. I'm so sorry for sounding nitpick-y, because this is a super fun idea that I've had before, but things like this make it not work for me. I do love the deck however, and I implore you to keep brewing.

Shah of Naar Isle downside actually combos well with your commander, and it's a fairly sizable creature at that.

Psychosis Crawler allows you to take advantage of all the massive amounts of cards you're drawing through every turn.

Font of Mythos is the bigger Howling Mine; goes right along with your commander's theme.

Gaze of Adamaro can be considered to be a finisher of sorts, or to just deal a ton of face damage.

I think you're running enough artifacts to be able to take full advantage of Molten Psyche, which can result in even more damage than Gaze.

I just... I wish it had a few more group hug staples in it. Tempting Wurm, Shah of Naar Isle, Upwelling or something like that. Stuff you need if you want to go deep into a group hug deck.

War Elemental would get very big, very fast with all those effects that damage all opponents.

Hellkite Tyrant could add to your already substantial number of artifacts (possibly for a win, definately for more equipment).

Do you get enough takers for your "MAY draw cards" creatures once people see whats happening? I would consider taking out Humble Defector and Shah of Naar Isle
