Bogbrew Witch Discussion

hellhole3927 on Zombie/ discard Modern

First off I'm going to assume this is more of a casual Modern deck due to the cmc'c of the creatures. If it isn't I would recommend making sure the majority of the creatures is 1 and 2 drops, but for casual it seems quite cool (I love tribal decks). Next, I'm not sure if you are on a budget, but if you aren't Thoughtseize is simply the best discard spell ever printed (not terribly expensive). Also Inquisition of Kozilek is the next best, but if you are in a more casual play group rather than a turn 4 play group it may not be as good (still good though). Finally, if this is more of a "good" casual Modern deck with the Festering Newt and Bubbling Cauldron combo you should probably include Bogbrew Witch .

I'm a sucker for themed decks, and while you may not know it, you've got the foundation for one in Bogbrew Witch, Bubbling Cauldron, and Festering Newt. Running a full 4 copies of the witch and the cauldron will allow you to take advantage of them more often. Also, 4 copies of Supernatural Stamina lets you recur Festering Newt for more shenanigans.

Viscera Seer is a great scry card, letting you set up your draws at the cost of sacrificing a creature.

Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist, and Mogg War Marshal are 2-drops that benefit you when they die, which means they combo decently with your cauldron and the Viscera Seer card I mentioned above.

Cast Down and Vicious Offering are great cheap removal spells; Fatal Push is best if you decide to build something sacrificial.

I love the combination of Cemetery Recruitment with Lurching Rotbeast. That's 12 cards worth of card draw over the course of the game. Adding some Zombies to take advantage of Recruitment isn't bad.

Sorry. I know these are a lot of suggestions. These are what came to mind when I saw this.

Try out going a tiny bit more on witch tribal with the Bogbrew Witch jank package.

I'd think running 4 x Festering Newt, 2 x Bubbling Cauldron and 3 x Bogbrew Witch. Would be janky, fun, and improve this curve a tad.

I'd cut 3 x toil, the 2 altar's reap, 2 bitterheart witches and two curse of misfortunes

Actually just took out Fallen Angel. Too high a cmc for it's effect, or what do you think? The Festering Newt, Bubbling Cauldron and Bogbrew Witch are in for the laugh - I have had them laying around for too long.Kokusho, the Evening Star only works well if we're able to reanimate him, or what do you think?

Have you thought of using Festering Newt Bogbrew Witch Bubbling Cauldron. I think they would work in your EDH

Weenie_Roaster9000: I finally got to playtest this thing. I will say it definitely wants all 4 copies of Bubbling Cauldron, since this is the key to spamming angels with Angelic Accord. Having multiples allows me to make an angel on my turn, and my opponents turn. When you don't have the accord out yet, it's also handy to have an extra around for responding to removal. I agree though on dropping 1 Elixir of Immortality, especially now that I run Lingering Souls. I also like the idea of adding the 4th orzhov charm, as well as some more removal. I'm thinking that, as much as I love Trading Post, more than one is one more than you need on the field. I'm gonna drop 1 copy each of Trading Post, Zulaport Cutthroat, Bogbrew Witch, and Elixir of Immortality. This will make room for a 4th copy of Orzhov Charm and Raise the Alarm (loving the instant speed on this token maker). That will leave 3 spots open for Path to Exile, which I will have to pick up.
