Rest in Peace & Eldrazi Processors?
Modern forum

While sorting cards I came across Rest in Peace in a Soul Sisters sideboard, and realized the potential for combos with the Eldrazi Processors. If a card would go to a graveyard it's exiled instead. The Processors work by moving cards from exile to the graveyard. So...unlimited Processor fodder once the cards are exiled and the enchantment is in play.
Is this a combo that could be abused potentially and become part of a viable, competitive Modern deck? I've done some brewing but so far it is coming up kind of slow and clunky, with Cloudshift style effects needed to capitalize on the ETB processing. So far working on a W/B build but totally open to suggestions of all color combos. Heck, if this could be tossed into an existing shell even better. Thanks!

Processing cards don't have enough power to be worth playing.

I feel like you're onto something! Blight Herder + Rest in Peace plus something to repeatedly bounce herder would be unlimited 1/1's, no?

THAT'S IT! Cloudstone will bounce the herder each time a scion comes into play, and RIP will exile all the cards put into an opponents graveyard, leading to unlimited tokens! Add in Soul Warden and you have an infinite life combo that works in Azorius colors to allow control cards to be played around it!

Came up with a shell for you to work off of, as I think this is a great idea for a deck.

Clokkwork wow okay, but how do we cast Herder the second time after we've bounced it to hand?
What if we instead used Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker? But then we'd have to get him untapped to repeat. Jeskai Ascendency comes to mind, but that requires a non-creature spell...Retraction Helix? Maybe an AEther Vial would be easier to untap repetitively, but can't think of any particular cards that would allow for that.
I like where your head's at!

So right now the combo works, but it can't quite go infinite. We need a card that will let us play the Herder without a mana cost.

Do you mind if I start adding a description to the deck and cycle it to get more minds in on this?

Maybe in the morning more folks will read and suggest. That deck is cool though, amazed how quickly you came up with it!
Would be cool if the T/O community could build a new archetype of sorts!
Good work Clokkwork! Guess that's why you have that tag! Brews random brews based on a single interaction like clock-work lol

Clokkwork of course not! :)
I'm excited you see the potential in this interaction!

Haha, appreciate the comment! I cycled the deck to get it out there, see if we can find a way to make this go infinite. I really wanna see the combo work.

why not take the Jeskai Ascendancy combo for a mill deck... still use R/W/U colors and add Herald of Kozilek or a card like it to drop the mana cost of Blight Herder... from there Midnight Guard and Retraction Helix for an infinite combo of life. but you still run into the issue of a 5CMC card and being able to proc it each time since it DOES have to be cast :/

Some options after you cast Cloudstone Curio:

The processing triggers when you CAST it not when it enters the battlefield.

I tried to do something similar for Standard manipulating Anafenza, the Foremost and the processors for BFZ as I am in desperate need of an infinite combo in Standard. However there's just not enough competitive speed and synergy to make it worth while in Standard.
I don't have the mental energy to make it work in Modern.

I've been thinking about trying to do an alternate build that is U/B (Dimir) based that uses Ashiok, Nightmare Weaverbecause she is secretly the best ingester they've ever made, but incorporating white would do wonders for it too since it's a controlling build. hmm.... ie. Rest in Peace, Silkwrap, Path to Exile, etc....

I'm currently playing the black version of this deck (it's kind of already a thing), and the processors work much better when cast on turns two and three. Eye of Ugin, Eldrazi Temple.

I was thinking of going into Jeskai colors for Herald of Kozilek, as with Eye of Ugin it would allow us to make infinite mana, and therefore infinite scions. I think a control shell fits the deck, yes, no?

And so long as infinite mana hits. Crater's Claws would look nice

Might as well do Banefire as it's uncounterable at X=5.

Just saw this thread and thought I'd revive it.
BW Eldrazi Processors (and Mono-B and BR) are already a thing and are blowing up all over. However in the BW shell I think Lingering Souls is far too good to pass up. If you agree, then you'll have to forgo Rest in Peace for the standard build which uses Relic of Progenitus and even the unknown Scrabbling Claws to power the Processor mechanic.
The artifacts cantrip, which is key for mid-to-late game utility. RiP also powers up your opponent in the mirror match, which will become common in the near future.
Whoever said that Processing isn't powerful enough to be worth it clearly hasn't seen this deck in action. It has all kinds of game.
Here is my build: <>BW Eldrazi Ramp. Feedback is welcome.
