I have been running your typical CoCo elf deck for a few years now. I was wondering, what other elf builds exist out there? I love my elves and would love to expand my elf play

Here's my build: Templar Elves

Aside from Company value elves (White and black variants as well as mono green), there's beatdown elves that runs like a full suite of Elvish Champion to just kinda play the merfolk game, and there's combo elves that runs Cloudstone Curio and / or Temur Sabertooth to just bounce your dudes into oblivion with the help of Heritage Druid and Paradox Engine, gets a bunch of value, life, or mana to kill the opponent, some also bounce Shaman of the Pack to get there.

Are Combo Elves still competitive? And is Beck still the "go to" card in the deck or has something new come out yet to replace it?

Combo elves is kind of the deck that you build because you like the idea but then you 0-4 an fnm with it and go "Oh well then i'll just build the company version".

There's just too much disruption and removal in the format to have it do anything relevant anymore.

Combo Elves is really fun and will just shit all over non-interactive decks. Like you can just flip the top half of your library onto the table on turn 3.

The issue is you lose to Lightning Bolt, Pyroclasm, and Anger of the Gods. You pretty much just have to concede those matches against decks that run 4+ cards in any combination of the above.

I was 2-2 with mono green elves last night. Flying was the problem for me to deal with. Wonder how to fix it, or just go with more aggression and win faster. With 2 mana on turn three or four, I think I had about 15 elves on the board in a game.

@Wyrmweird: What's your sideboard look like? I stuck 2 Overgrown Tombs in mine, with some Abrupt Decays and Dismembers. That helped a lot when dealing with not just flying, but also a wider variety of threats.

I've also thought about using Hurricane. Not only can you wipe the entire field of fliers, you can also use it as a finisher on your opponent. Corrosive Gale/Firespout/Skyreaping/Windstorm are the other wrath effects. There's also the Hurricane effects on things like Tornado Elemental.

Bow of Nylea is another option, especially since it does so much stuff.

Otherwise, you can go with Plummet, Leaf Arrow, Take Down, Wing Puncture, or Aerial Volley.

I'm partial to using a creature, though. It means you can get it by using Summoner's Pact, Lead the Stampede, etc. Silklash Spider, Arashi, the Sky Asunder, Cloudthresher, and Tornado Elemental are what exist in Modern to my knowledge.

Jagged-Scar Archers is also bonkers, but it needs to tap in order to do its thing. Probably best if you're using Thousand-Year Elixir.

I'm still building the deck, so I had no sideboard to mention =p I like the idea of adding black for better removal and for Shaman of the Pack. My side board was pump spells and artifact removal cobbled from standard cards I have. This is the deck I'm using Elf Party

I'm definitely adding some of the cards you mentioned to fight off flying creatures, thanks!
