Amount of counterspells?

So I'm in the process of making an Azami EDH deck and I'm curious as to how many counters to run. Also, does anybody have Azami decks they think are worth sharing?

Note that I don't ever play blue so I don't really know what I'm doing, I'm doing this to challenge myself pretty much.

I run about 14-16 in my control deck, and it's near the limit of acceptable amount of board wipes. For azami, idk, you could try running board wipes, steal spells, and other stuff to keep it not unfun.

My friends usually run around 8. Its enough to have answers but not too many to be oppressive. Now, Mono-U probably needs more, since it doesn't have many removal options

Honestly, I'd probably run 15+. Possibly more. Since you're mono blue, you'll have a harder time finding board wipes and spot removal, so I'd fill those slots with counters instead. It also depends on your playgroup though. Some groups hate counters, and if you play more than 10 they'll call you oppressive or "unfun" and won't play with you. If you have a more competitive group (or just more accepting) than I'd shoot for somewhere between 15-18

I run 16 in my Kruphix, God of Horizons deck and it feels about right. No one complains that I'm a jerk (or they do so silently). And, if you think about it, 16 in a 99 card deck is proportionally equivalent to 8-10 counters in a 60 card deck; those are hardly oppressive numbers. I probably have a counter when I really need one half the time.

As others have said though, it depends on your playgroup.

Hinder and Spell Crumple are also definite musts for blue EDH, and Spin into Myth is also great. Tunnel Vision can also be fun with any of them.

Counterspells are mean. There are so many variants of the spell; does anyone know how many mono U counters there are? (Essence Scatter,Disrupt, Neutralizing Blast,

I run 11 in my Esper EDH.

My mono blue is a junk I have deck, so only has like 6 or 7, should have 15+.

15 in my Oloro, with CounterTop excluded. It really depends on the kind of deck you want to use, but you definitely want Hinder, Spell Crumple, Cryptic Command (if you can afford it) and Pact of Negation. Those are the top 4 I can think of in EDH.

Dissipate has to go in every deck with blue in it. Some stuff has to get exiled to prevent abuse before it can even hit the battlefield, like Mindslaver & Terastodon

That I'd agree with too. Dissipate or Faerie Trickery are both very, very valuable to control decks. And even any sort of deck that runs blue in EDH.
