No trample at all? I understand the Alpha Autority/Madcap Skills combo, but is it the only solution to go pass the other player's creatures? And how well does it do against burn and mono-black "destroy"?

your calculations are off because the probability that you get one of your one drops or the proper kill cards, affects your win chances

have you thought about adding Phalanx Formation . Instant speed double strike!

gets eaten by jund monsters, gets wrecked by g/w, B/R aggro isnt even smashing face currently in standard... and also it just has a hard time with consistenty, after a mull to 6 how does the deck fair against a turn 1 thoughtseize taking your only creature

Too weak. Doesn't beat RUG Delver.

Lol, in all seriousness this is a powerful deck that should win you FNM. It's also fun to kill someone out of nowhere.

Bestow Boon Satyr maybe?

@sammontone Which version of G/W are you referring to exactly? Like I have stated in my update, Black is my weakness. Cards like Thoughtseize , Devour Flesh and Feast of Dreams wreck me. This is why I main deck Alpha Authority for those targeting spells and try to be on the play. This is also the reason for all the evasion and the extra creatures in my side deck. The only card I have issues with still is Thoughtseize . When I play against Black, my whole game play changes. I will just try to get creatures on the bored and wait for an opening, then mega-tron my way through their life in one turn. If they make the mistake of turning sideways, it is game over.

the version that has sideboard Unflinching Courage and also they get good blocks in with their creatures such as Voice of Resurgence because any kind of life gain is really bad for you and they can match creatures for your buffs turn by turn unless you get an alpha authority on one of them early in which case you wont be swinging for as much damage and then they take the upper hand.

Also even though you have stated it, i still think control can be a bad matchup if they are on the play, because they have access to turn to cards to slow them down until they hit their turn 4 supreme verdict, like if you dont have an alpha authority and are just trying to get in for max damage against control, Azorius Charm just kinda wrecks that strategy

@Shmu That is a brilliant idea, thank you for bringing that up.

I really liked the idea of this build and I really thought it could give my current competetive deck ( Rain of Fire ) a run for its money. But after an hour or so of play testing, I have to say that consistency, or lack there of, is this decks biggest problem.

90% Of your creatures get eaten up by my Shock or Lightning Strike before you can even get an enchantment or effect on it.

Then, by the time you can make it through my counter spells, either Young Pyromancer already has a small army of tokens or Guttersnipe has your health too low for it to matter.

Its still absolutely great when it works and super fun to play, but overall all id say its tier 2 at best.

+1 for you sire.

i think green could be cut altogether, but while you're at it, you might as well add in Unflinching Courage and sideboard the Alpha Authority .

@insan0flex Thank you for the feed back. This deck has been a lot of fun to build and play with. As far as being tier 2, I might put it at 1.5, for the sol reason that I have won several standard constructed tournaments. You only have to have about a 7/2 (about 78%) win/loss rate to top 8. This deck has no problem doing that as long as everyone isn't playing control burn or black.

@NicolBolasFTW If I cut Alpha Authority I could just plug in Rouse the Mob or Gods Willing (which I have done) and it will work. I just liked the idea of it being Naya. Besides that, I had this deck posted as a 3tk Boros deck and no one noticed it. Since I have made it Naya, it has exploded in popularity.

On a side note:This game is less about cards and more about getting into the head of your opponent. I have won games against people because of pressure. Once they have seen me take a 1/1 creature and take their life total down to 0 in one turn, they start to panic. From then on, it forces them to play differently and side cards that break their engine. Most people do not even realize that is what they are doing until it is already over. If I keep a hand full of cards (even if its just lands) my opponent has no way of knowing if I can just kill them the next turn or not, so on their turn they are less likely to attack or play their turn correctly.

Shmu just to be clear, you know that heroic ability on Favored Hoplite only activates if its controller were to target it. An opponents targeted removal will still end its breif, however favored existence.

While I like the deck, and understand that part of the reason it wins is how fast it is, you would get a lot more consistency out of it if you just switched it to straight-up naya hexproof. Swap your 3 mainboard creatures with Gladecover Scout , Bassara Tower Archer and Witchstalker . Which would also free up some space to take out Alpha Authority , Maybe for Ajani, Caller of the Pride , Chained to the Rocks , Unflinching Courage , or even Phytoburst .

That would also free up some room in your sideboard for more Unflinching Courage , Chained to the Rocks , etc since you'd be moving the Scouts to main. That could also mean taking out Gods Willing , but that might still be useful in the side against creature-heavy decks to smash through unblocked.

It would be a touch slower, and would be less likely to kill on T3, but would be more consistent overall and have a much, much better matchup against black and red.

Very close to my deck.. I do like Armed in here. Dragon Mantle and Alpha Authority seem a bit slow though, but I can see how they'd work well.

@Skraz1265 I like your idea for just running straight naya aggro hexproof. I do have a selesnya deck built that does just that with most of the cards you just mentioned. It is a lot slower but does last against red and black more (until they start playing Away or Devour Flesh ). I will work on making my selesnya deck into a more aggro naya deck, but I would like to keep this version aggro.

Seems like there isn't enough creatures. I have a boros aggro that is basically the same as this without the green, and it runs 16. I have problems drawing creatures sometimes with 16, so 12 seems very low. Also, why do you have the green in there? Is it just for the Alpha authority? Idk. I like your ideas, just think it could be simplified down to just the boros and have a few more creatures.

Maybe consider replacing Dragon Mantle with Messenger's Speed . It still works with Ethereal Armor , is strong with Alpha Authority , and makes it tough for opponents to chump. Another option could be Selesnya Charm as a trick. Cool deck. +1.

Giant Growth would also work to do your kill move

@Shmu, you can just Lightning Strike Favored Hoplite in response. Same problem with Alpha Authority , yes it can protect your creatures but it also opens you up for an instant 2for1 Doom Blade

Drop Green for Blue; add Aqueous Form. Stops creature chump block, adds potential control in the side board. Also adds simic charm, and artisan of forms if you want it.

Charging badger! And glade cover scouts are boss 1 drops that may fit?

June 16, 2014 9:54 a.m.

BrutalFear says... #24

@Schuesseled, heroic triggers and resolves as soon as it is targeted. His effect will activate once I target him and resolve before Lightning Strike resolves, no matter where it is in the chain. Heroic does not go on the stack. Favored Hoplite will take no damage and Lightning Strike will be countered. I just recently beat an RDW deck at a GP because the judge ruled that way. My opponent tried to have the have it overruled but the head judge ruled the same way. Heroic can be very tricky at times.

@kaulin I LOVE the idea of using Aqueous Form . That would work beautifully in this deck. If I drop Alpha Authority I could make it RGU and then side deck some counter spells like Swan Song to stop Black kill spells and Red burn spells.
