A bunch of people at my LGS went on at the pre-release that Tibalt is unusable. This deck is here to prove them wrong.
Essentially, the deck revolves around not having to worry about what cards I discard. Sun Titan can bring back
Burning Vengeance
, Liliana of the Veil, Mirran Crusader, Oblivion Ring, Vexing Devil, and
Zombie Infestation
. The remaining spells either have flashback, i.e. Lingering Souls or Faithless Looting or in the case of Wurmcoil Engine and Sun Titan, Unburial Rites can rescue them from the grave.
Here's the breakdown:
Obviously
Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded
acts as both a discard outlet and a damage dealer. The whole premise of my deck is that it doesn't matter which card from my hand Tibalt chooses, I can still get it back.
Liliana of the Veil is perfect for keeping opponents at bay while I fill my graveyard, as well as also acting as a discard outlet.
Sun Titan and Wurmcoil Engine are the main reanimator targets, and Sun Titan is vital in returning thrown away enchantments, land or planeswalkers.
Lingering Souls, Mirran Crusader and the occasional Vexing Devil help me to control the board while Tibalt is filling up the grave and I search for Unburial Rites and either fatty. They also help to protect Tibalt in order to drop his -4 or -6.
Burning Vengeance
was a perfect addition to this deck, given Lingering Souls, Faithless Looting and Unburial Rites. What's better than shocking an opponent while maintaining card advantage?
Reforge the Soul is the other addition from AVR that really makes this deck powerful. If the conditions are right, I can reanimate a fatty and hit them for 7 damage, all in one turn. It also helps me to fill my graveyard and hopefully pull something I need.
