Optimizing process —Dec. 10, 2016

Cleaned up mana base and added:

  • Exploration/Burgeoning/Crucible of Worlds: This is a better ramping package than a typical Farseek etc. With the amount of wheel effects I run, my opponents will be playing more lands than usual which will enable Burgeoning and I will have discarded lands in my graveyard to be recurred with Crucible of Worlds.

  • Torpor Orb: I realized that 99% of my creatures don't have ETB effects and this will prevent my opponents from casting and abusing any ETB creature shenanigans.

  • Propaganda: I will probably be targeted a lot so having protection from an army of creatures is great.

  • Mindslaver: Great way to deal with problematic board states.

  • Neurok Stealthsuit vs Lightning Greaves: While greaves have a ceiling of an explosive turn 3 play (turn 2 greaves into turn 3 mana dork etc.), most of my plan does not rely on the speed but more on resiliency and attrition. Greaves has also often screwed up combo when I realized that there are no other creatures I can equip greaves on to get Umbral Mantle equipped to Kydele. Stealthsuit has the potential to act as an instant speed protection and keep opponents' spot removal at bay (or waste them if they forgot about it). With the amount of mana I will be generating, I will always have mana open for stealthsuit.

  • Pernicious Deed vs Ugin, the Spirit Dragon: Someone made a good point that Kozilek's graveyard shuffle effect is actually unwanted in a deck like mine and also disabled Tasigur's infinite combo so I decided to take him out to add in a mass removal. Deed is great to clear almost everything (but planeswalkers) and I can control the amount of things to destroy. Ugin has a similar effect but is reusable and only affects colored permanents. Ugin's ultimate also draws me cards and can effectively end the game. In this deck, I should have no problem casting Ugin by turn 5 or 6 if needed to with kydele in play. Since I am running plenty of artifacts, Ugin seems to be a nice fit to my final slot.

ryan1204: Good suggestion, thanks!

I don't have much experience with this type of archetype, but I feel that Rashmi, Eternities Crafter would be strong here. She is a pseudo-cascade for the first spell of every turn.

Some other possible suggestions that came to mind when looking through this list:

Dragon Mage for an additional wheel effect.

Also another potential insta-win for infinite mana is the Squall Line/Hurricane+Elderscale Wurm/Platinum Angel/Platinum Emperion combo

Cool deck! +1 from me

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor: Thanks for the feedback! Rashmi is definitely a good addition, I'll definitely test it out!

Note on the combos page, the bit about needing 6 to get all options isn't true. Once you produce infinite mana anyway, you have access to everything regardless of how much she produces.

Nath of the Gilt-Leaf is pretty great if you're casting a bunch of wheels.

Also, wheels and cards like Waste Not. or if you want to be a dick, Notion Thief

maddoxmtg: Nice catch on the infinite mana combo. Notion Thief and Waste Not definitely sounds like fun cards to test out.

catrule3564: Nath of the Gilt-Leaf is definitely an interesting suggestion and can pair well with Vial Smasher and Waste Not as an additional annoying effect. Might have to test that out.

Thanks for all your suggestions!

Why no Skullclamp?

jaiaisaiah: I don't really play any sacrifice creature strategy or tokens to abuse skullclamp to a large extent which is why I didn't include it. Thanks for the suggestion though!
