We at the Fleshless Equality Movement for Universal Rights are committed to advancing the cause of Skeletons. They have been repeatedly forced into service for other subtypes without compensation. They are restricted in developing a unique identity, and what little gains they have made have been rejected. Those few that have received fame and glory have done so despite, not because of, their Skeleton-ness. Skeletons! It's time to break the Zombie stranglehold on necromancy, free yourselves from the meat feet, and claim your rights!

Thankfully, Adventures in the Forgotten Realms has recognized our position and offered several new options, chief among them Skeletal Swarming. We eagerly welcome our new cohorts and hope this marks a turning point in the treatment of Skeletons. Unfortunately, Demilich will be unable to participate at this time, but it has an open seat at the table. We also hope to see the Baldur's Gate Commander menace token appear more in the future.

Lost Caverns of Ixalan and Murders at Karlov Manor have also provided valuable support. We welcome Corpses of the Lost, Skeleton Crew, Case of the Stashed Skeleton, and Hunted Bonebrute to the ranks, and Uchbenbak, the Great Mistake has a place among the reserves.

We want to get out our self-recurring creatures, Gutterbones and Reassembling Skeleton. Rimebound Dead walls off attackers, and Kjeldoran Dead sets up early pressure. Dark Ritual lets us jump ahead by a turn or two.

Gut, True Soul Zealot is the only non-Skeleton creature, because those 4/1 menace tokens are too good to pass up. (Sorry, Gut, but you're going to be switched out if another source of those tokens shows up.) Corpses of the Lost and Skeleton Crew keep our army growing and active, while Carrionette picks off threats for good. Case of the Stashed Skeleton is fodder and tutor in one sweet package.

Skeletal Swarming and Phyrexian Reclamation keep the attacks coming, and Hunted Bonebrute is a beast of a Beast. Gut, True Soul Zealot + Skeleton Crew + Reassembling Skeleton is a token engine that gets you a 3/3 and a 5/2 menace for every time you attack.

I'm keeping the land base budget. This is a casual theme deck, not a tournament masterpiece, and the snow basics and Jund Panorama work well enough for our purposes. The all-snow base ensures Rimebound Dead will survive as much as possible, and it doesn't slow anything else down.

These options focus on versatile removal and alternate finishers. Terminate and Spontaneous Combustion can kill any creature or a swarm of small creatures, respectively, and our creatures don't mind being blown up once in a while. Bad Moon gives our Skeletons another cheap buff for an extra edge in combat. (Death Baron exists, I know, but it's a Zombie. We're throwing off the Zombie shackles, remember?) Witherbloom Command and Binding the Old Gods are good utility and can solve a lot of different problems. Profane Command helps close out the game in several different ways, from direct life loss to granting evasion to removing a threat. Finally, Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon is an excellent stall breaker and alternate win condition.

The maybeboard has cards that didn't make the cut, whether because they're too mana-hungry, too color-heavy, or not Skeletons.

For the budget-minded, Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon is a useful alt-win, but isn't a core piece of the deck's strategy. Phyrexian Reclamation can be easily exchanged for Malevolent Awakening, Carrionette can be exchanged for a different removal card, and Witherbloom Command and Bad Moon are general-use sideboard cards that can and should change based on your local meta. This is all a long-winded way of saying, whatever you have to work with, it'll probably fit in here.
