Sideboard

Maybeboard

Instant (1)

I have been working with a dimir devotion shell for a while but I am combining my ideas with some that have recently been floating around on tappedout and this is what I have come up with.

I always wanted to find a way to use Liliana's Reaver in Standard and I will admit that more than one idea in this deck is due to @AJohnson9x. (Just want to give credit where it's due!)

There is a ton of removal to help control the board before heavy hitters Desecration Demon and Liliana's Reaver start dealing out heavy damage.

Omenspeaker helps to set up early draws and keep the mana flowing and can also provide protection to Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver when (it?) drops and starts causing problems.

Dimir Charm is very versatile and I mainly use it to kill small creatures or set up my opponent's library for Ashiok to steal something nice.

A lot of people in my meta were downing on Nighthowler when Theros was first released but again, thanks to the Mindfuck deck that has been featured on tappedout prominently as of late, I am going to mainboard it because of all the options this deck has to fill the opponent's graveyard with creatures. Also, I cannot wait to bestow it on Liliana's Reaver and wreak some havoc.

Duskmantle Seer may seem risky due to the life loss that he incurs as well as 1-for-1 card draw it gives my opponent, but he is a 4/4 flyer relatively early in the game and I also am running two Whip of Erebos to counteract the life loss, ideally turning his effect into a positive transaction. Since making this deck I have reduced him to a one-of just to keep people on their toes because it is not a very commonly played card in standard and will surprise some opponents.

Erebos, God of the Dead gives a little bit of Mainboard card advantage and will most likely be a creature with the black permanents I have going on.

Thoughtseize is great in almost any situation as you all know. I will be putting two more in here once I get acquire them but for now I only have two.

One card that I am REALLY wanting to mainboard is Spell Rupture . It is a hard counter that, in most situations will have the opponent paying at least six mana to nullify its effects thanks to Desecration Demon. However, I am going to wait until the next standard FNM at my store and test it in from the side and see how effective it is. If I were to side anything out for it, I think I would lose one Dimir Charm and the Duskmantle Seer

Please playtest and tell me what you think.
