I have to go to sleep now, but it looks fairly competitive to me. Playtest and impressions are coming, my fellow blade user. ;)

Awesome deck +1. Have you played this deck before? If so does it do pretty well?

I can't tell whats worse, Cobras with swords or this video of an Octopus kidnapping a Crab Kidnapping

Anyway, I finally found a deck to use my Lotus Cobras in. Thank you and +1

almerican I wish I was better at photoshop... then I could figure out how a Lotus Cobra holds a blade.

HydraOoze Yes, and yes.

elpokitolama Thanks, and it has done pretty well on Untap.in. Go blade!

All: Thanks for the +1!

Playtest results:

Aggainst aggro match-ups, the deck react surprisingly good. Against U/W or Esper control, it faces some problems. Boseiju, Who Shelters All could be a nice addition to the SB. I won't talk about Abzan, cuz' Mirran Crusader+Sword of War and Peace is a one-hit KO here. They simply can't deal with this thing :D

The deck weakest point was burn and, in general, U/R match-ups. Mana dorks are easily removable, which means a big loss of time for us since we're relying heavily on those. Gods Willing or Brave the Elements should be nice additions in there, with some ways to gain life quicker than relying on the swords.

I found what I'm spending my next Tax Refund money on... Holy bananas, this deck is a masterpiece. Might I ask for a breakdown of the sideboard? What comes in, what comes out, etc? I mean, some of it is pretty straightforward.. but when do you bring in Vendilion Clique or Batterskull?

Dr_Jay says... #13

Wow, thanks Blades_Of_Autumn, here's an overview:

Back to Nature Beats bogles, and can counter twin.

Leyline of Sanctity Burn, Junk, etc.

Batterskull Against decks that we have to race, can also be a 'Sword'. Great against control and the like.

Boseiju, Who Shelters All Opposing control has a good matchup, so this deals with that.

Creeping Corrosion Hmm... I think there might be a tier 1 aggro artifact deck. Maybe.

Voice of Resurgence Control, delver, etc.

Vendilion Clique Combo, can be used to get cards that hose the deck out of the opponent's hand.

Thrun, the Last Troll Control, Junk, and deck feat. removal.

Torpor Orb So I heard Splinter Twin was a thing, and the same with Siege Rhino. Nope!

Dr_Jay, yeaGO, whassup? Jay's not recieving comment notification anymore? If that's the case, I suffer from the same problem for my own caw blade deck... Then if it's only both of us, and only for those decks specificaly, then it might be because we used japanese characters in our decks names?

Also, I'm not notified about this deck's new comments, even thought I'm subscribed to those...

Well whether you are notified or not, I really love this deck, @Dr_Jay! I am slowly, slowly working on a deck cheaper but similar to this and I am really enjoying the colors bant has to offer. +1 for me :) Hopefully the one I craft is as good haha

3 Sphinx's Revelation? Most decks that use the card ever run more than 2 and they're usually running at least 25 lands. I can't imagine you'll ever get too much out of it on 21 and if you do it'd be super late into the game.

May 21, 2015 9:05 p.m.

Dr_Jay says... #21

bigguy99 I'm unsure about that, to be honest. It has usually been a dead draw. I might drop them to get another sword and 2 more lands.

May 21, 2015 9:13 p.m.

bigguy99 says... #22

That's actually exactly what I was getting at - I was a bit shocked, frankly, to see three of the card in the deck. I think what you've done to balance the numbers is fine (I really like adding two more lands) - but Sword of Body and Mind is just bad in Modern. I'd go up to three Remands, down to three Mana Leaks, and add another KotR and Myth Realized. I think that adds up to 60 (after taking the sword out).

May 21, 2015 9:20 p.m.

Mooer says... #23

I would suggest not running Myth realized, this deck can't capitalize on it and it isn't even that great of a card - especially not with swords because he won't stay equipped. I think 1 Sphinx's Revelation is fine and will work well with the amount of ramp you run. For the other two slots try running 2 Qasali Pridemage for the extra reach and exalted bonus.

I would also suggest dropping Sword of Light and Shadow, unless your creatures die it isn't useful. Instead I highly highly recommend that you run 1 Batterskull mainboard. You can play it turn 3 off a cobra and a fetch land.

Reading over this, I really like the idea. Course, it'd have a problem against the deck I'm currently building, Blasphemous Act + Boros Reckoner , simply because your Kor Firewalker will have a hard time catching up with the 26 damage I can shell out reasonably consistently by turn 5. But as it's not a common archetype in pretty much anywhere, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
