It's pretty much automatically going to be Bracket 4, if you care about that. Mass land denial's a pretty big thing.

Do you have any specific colors in mind? Blood Moon, Drannith Magistrate, No Mercy, High Noon, Opposition, and Pendrell Mists are all reasonably common options--at least, they're ones I've come into contact with. They're also higher budget than Winter Moon, if that's a concerns.

Crystal Barricade, Myrel, Shield of Argive, High Noon, and Final Showdown are all pretty new, and and have prominent Standard control decks. and would have an identity crisis if defensive strategies were reduced too much.

I don't think it's as much de-emphasizing defensive strategies as reducing stalemates. Between tournament time restrictions and the subjective "fun" factor, there's several reasons to avoid a board state where nothing happens. Going off High Noon, they're also including ways to break a deadlock within the cards that set the deadlock--Rule of Law that breaks its own parity. It should be possible to at least outline a dynamic prison deck at this point, something that keeps the board state advancing while still playing like a traditional hard control deck.

The game's not really here to model real-world military tactics. It's an entertainment product, so entertainment comes first. And as someone who likes control and prison effects, it's kind of a hard sell when the gameplay goes into stasis for more than a turn.

not yet im a little light on wildcards but definitely something i plan on including... once again really like this brew; i was trying to think of ways to help get Drannith Magistrate more consistently but came up short with practical suggestions; but i think the deck does a pretty stellar just with protecting it just by taxing the opponent; my aggro deck is really good at getting 3-4 mana in a game but between your own removal and High Noon it just does such a great job undermining the speed/efficency vs my gruul aggro... i think Possibility Storm is very cute and a neat lock to go for but I think is probably unnecessary and i think id consider Boros Charmfoil for its modes.

it was a pleasure! loved seeing this deck in action very oppressive against decks using Wrenn's Resolve/Questing Druid and Aloe Alchemist mechanics... and High Noon surprisingly made me way more sad to see resolve than i initially thought.

Knowledge Pool + High Noon/Rule of Law/something like that is a hard lock. Cast a spell, exile it, can't cast the replacement spell because you already cast your spell for the turn.

Or just put it in a chaos deck and make a big mess.

Unlife on Brew ideas for Scrawling Crawler

This is a really interesting idea. It's reminding me of something like an old rakdos Waste Not build more then anything else. Maybe a rakdos/mardu lockdown build with a Scrawling Crawler + Burning Inquiry/Dark Deal built in as both wincon and disruption, supported by things like Blood Moon, Aven Mindcensor, High Noon, etc

If you're already running Rule of Law, you might appreciate High Noon.
