All creatures lose flying.

Back with a few updates:

  • Settled on Glimpse of Tomorrow as a must include. I feel like it fits the all-or-nothing and chaotic style of the deck so well, and I like the element of randomness. Taking out Dark-Dweller Oracle out for it, as all the recent draw additions make Oracle less necessary.

  • Temporarily (maybe?) taking out Dockside Extortionist for another basic. I don't own Extortionist yet and its price is...extortionate. Also I cut a land when I added Valakut Awakening  Flip and I think that may have been the wrong move. I've always been able to play with a very lean landbase, but that always meant 33 lands. I need to re-evaluate if that can go any lower after a bunch more games. If my new meta has a large number of artifacts it Extortionist will likely make it back in.

  • I think it's finally time to add Cavern of Souls . This is obviously a nice-to-have and not a must-have, but it should help with the big influx of new counterspells.

  • Considering re-adding a card that was in the deck very, very long ago with Gravity Sphere . My meta has a lot of flyers and it certainly helps, but I would have a hard time removing anything I am currently running.

  • Thoughts on Sol Talisman ? I like it, I just don't know that I need it.

Also hoping to clean up the primer over the weekend, especially to update categories with old info in them.

midget_overlord: I like them both, but it depends on how someone structures the rest of their deck.

Gravity Sphere allows spells like Subterranean Tremors,Earthquake, etc... to hit flying creatures, and you can still take advantage of Nemesis Mask, Invasion Plans, and all of Basilisk Collar.

Chaosphere is really nice if you are having issues with flying chump blockers, or if you want to be able to chump block flyers yourself. An extra form of evasion on top of Goblin King never hurts either.

Being less than 1/10th the price it would be hard to justify Gravity over Chaos in a lot of situations, I just like the fact that it removes the flying ability completely, not just modifies combat.

Really enjoying this deck so far, but in many of my games I've noticed that it's really difficult to deal with flying aggression. What are your thoughts on replacing Renegade Map, Utopia Vow or Vow of Lightning with either Gravity Sphere or Chaosphere?

Added Glacial Crevasses back in, and it and Goblin Sledder won me the very next game against an Angel tribal control deck that I've never beaten. I forgot how much I liked it.

Testing Gravity Sphere again to see if it is the right way to go about countering my biggest creature weakness.

Added Mizzium Mortars per a recommendation by VraskaTheCursed. It is a great compliment to Blasphemous Act.

Testing Mind's Eye and Farsight Maskfor more draw. If I don't like the speed of them, I will put Reforge the Soul back in their place, unless I can find another big draw spell I like more. Wheels have been doing a lot of great work for me lately.

Removed:

Treasonous Ogre - Great card, but I found myself not casting it a lot because I didn't need blistering ramp so much.

Godo, Bandit Warlord - I love this card, but the CMC makes it a hard include. The better my draw gets, the less I need highly costed tutors, but tutoring my Nemesis Mask, Basilisk Collar, or Thornbite Staffand freecasting it can be really nice. May find it's way back in.

Expedition Map - It's hard to quantify the benefit of this card. Sideboarding it until I notice I miss it.

I'm sure you haven't thought about this one in years, but if you like janky enchantment combos, you might consider Moat, Mystic Decree, and Gravity Sphere to go along with your Island Sanctuary and a Counterbalance to combo with your Scroll Rack and Sensei's Divining Top. Not sure what you'd ditch for those, since your other pillow fort cards are pretty solid. Maybe Meishin, the Mind Cage, Price of Glory, Night of Souls' Betrayal, and Act of Authority?

Changes:

Dropped two basic lands in favor of a few more answers. I am getting close to finding the perfect land count, and since I have a lot of fetch mechanics, it is just as consistent as before.

Explorer's Scope out for Wayfarer's Bauble - This is for consistency's sake, after quite a few playtests where the Scope did nothing but cost me mana. Having to swing didn't help either.

Sensation Gorger out for Wheel of Fortune - With so few castable Goblins, opportunities to use the mini-wheel effect were few and far between.

Gemstone Array out - Got some feedback that brought up a good point. If I am making a ton of mana between turns and I have literally no other places to put it, it is more of an indication of an underlying deck problem than it is a missing mana bank.

Gravity Sphere out - Going to be sideboarded for use with my regular playgroup, which is heavy on flyers with Angels, Dragons, Slivers, etc..

Mana Vault in. Gimme dem rocks! These really help to minimize the impact of saccing Mountains.

Urabrask the Hidden out for Goblin Chieftain - This is the original setup, and I think it's the better one. I prefer the lower CMC, and the change only hurts Moggcatcher and Chancellor of the Forge. I lose a mini-Stax effect, but it would be better to add a more potent one in anyway. In most situations I want to be blocked, the way this deck is built.

Strip Mine in because Strip Mine.

Gamble in so I can tutor for a boardwipe or Crucible of Worlds. I would really like another one or two tutors if possible.

Chaos Warp in mostly for the enchantment removal, and a little for indestructible creature options.

Goblin King in to abuse Blood Moon being out. Mostly likely only used as a finisher, or when Coat of Arms is out and I don't want token damage to be downgraded to 4.

Seismic Assault out - while great when Crucible of Worlds is out, when it isn't it is just a little too risky. It is rare to have more than one basic in hand, because all my extra land mechanics go directly to battlefield.

Vandalblast in - Needed a few more answers to artifacts. Now that I'm not running Mycosynth Lattice and Nevinyrral's Disk, I need more one-sided wipes.

Still slowly adding more mana rocks, board wipes, and Stax effects to clean up the curve and make the deck more consistent. As it stands when the deck lines up it really, really goes off, but when it doesn't I tread water for quite a while.
